Nah I say we take the ooze out first. Rolf can easily get down there and be ooze-bait while Eber pounds on it with MMs with virtually no chance of getting hit. It's a ooze, is it intelligent enough to retreat? I don't think so. With any luck, Eber kills it with MMs. At worse, it should be almost dead, and we finsh it off with a torch or something. -Then- we go after the wraiths. That's my idea, anyway.

If Rolf is really willing to be ooze-bait then I think that is a good idea. I don't think the jelly will retreat as long as it has something to attack.
But both wraiths will attack too. That's five rounds that Rolf has to withstand the jelly and two attempted Con drains. Nadia could still use the slippers to get inside the room while Pen hangs into the hatch to aid her turn attempts. That might distract the wraiths. And Eber would still have room to fire MMs. Maybe? |

Hey folks.
I'm looking at a crazy day here and I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to a computer before tonight. Since there's not much Alex will able to do in this combat anyway, if it comes to his turn, don't wait around for me. I don't want to hold everything up and then come in and post - "Uh,I guess Alex just stands there." He'll gladly give up the Spider Climb potion if the ladies want to try Spiderman-style undead turning. I will try to get on to see what's happening if I get a chance, though. |

Well no.. The bottom of the stairs is in "sunlight", remember? Rolf is not stupid, he'd stay there where the ooze can come, but not the wraiths..

OK, that's right. I guess if you're willing, let's try it.

Wow I'm already down there! Just so you know Crito, Rolf's AC will be 27 against the ooze (29 if it's evil), and 18 against the wraiths, should they manage to attack.

Re: Nulb - OOC 2 | ||

We can change that if you want. I assumed from reading the threads that Rolf was just delaying his move down the stairs till after Nadia handed him the shield - and I thought I would move ahead with it to save time. If you wanted Rolf to do something else with his ME action in round 1 I can adjust it.

Rolf only has to hold the Ooze's intrest for three rounds, not five.

No no, that's fine, it's what I wanted Rolf to do. Just wanted you to know he's in Full Defense mode though, with the ooze as his dodge target. But it didn't hit anyway, so it's no deal at all.

I have it that Pen climbs back up. Is this what we want her to do? I am confused. Why do we need Rolf to go down to distract the ooze if we are all up top? Can't Eber just zap it with magic missiles without anyone down there? Where can it retreat too?

Re: Nulb - OOC 2 | ||

Well if there's no one down there to attack, it'll retreat back where it was, out of sight of Eber, who then wouldn't be able to zap it.

Why three rounds?
edit: Ah! Nevermind... |

Re: Nulb - OOC 2 | ||

Eber hasted himself, so for the next two rounds, he'll fire two MMs per round, depleting himself of MMs (and hopefully killing the thing, but even if he doesn't he'll be out of MMs).

Yep. Its the whole burn twice as bright for half as long property of haste in 3.0. I'm so glad they fixed that for 3.5, but seeing as we're sticking with 3.0 rules, I'm going to abuse the hell out of it when the need arises.

Unless Jen or Lisa have an objection, I can fast forward the combat rounds through the magic missle casts.

It's fine with me. Let's see if Eber can kill the oozy.

Would either Nadia or Penelope care to refocus while waiting for Eber to finish?

Re: Nulb - OOC 2 | ||

Arrggh! We only need to do what? 6 to 8 points of damage to this thing? Nadia can use her last two 0-level spells to cast INFLICT MINOR WOUNDS.... (for a whopping 2 pts damage)
What else can we try? Someone mentioned using a torch, but what about the oily water? edti: Um, refocus.... OK. Nadia will refocus. |

Ugh. Anyone has Alchemist's fire or something?
Edit: Or, like BP suggested earlier, would a torch work? What damage would a torch inflict? They really should make beer-scented candles. -Barak, while attending a candle-selling party. |
