He has medium-brown hair, close-cut, and eyes to match. Corian tends to try growing out a goatee from time to time, then becomming frustrated that it doesn't "suit him" and shaving it off again. A young man from the village of Hommlet, Corian followed in his father's footsteps when the temple of Pelor was raised, and was among the first to accept this new faith in lieu of the older practices (St. Cuthbert and the old Druidic ways). This led to some hard times at first, for the Pelorite faith was, at first, considered to be made up of outsiders. Slowly, however, the priest that had come here, Yether the Keen, built his reputation amongst the people in the area. As one of the early converts, Corian showed a great deal of interest in the faith itself and, after asking his father's leave to do so, ended his apprenticeship as a chandler and took the vows of the order. He got along well enough with the older acolyte, Nerris, but always differed with him in terms of ambition. While Nerris denied his aptitudes and abilities, content to be an acolyte, Corian made it clear that he sought something more...that he would in due time bring the Light of Pelor into the darker parts of the world. Corian is the son of Anton and Doris, both of whom are Commoner 1 residents of Hommlet, and Chandlers (candle-makers) by trade. He has spent some time, before entering the order, in the company of one of Naresh's sons, and some of his attitudes has worn off on Corian. While holding no particular hatred towards other races, he tends to see Pelor as being a Human deity in much the same manner that Moradin is a Dwarven deity and the like, and sometimes feels like being Human marks him as more "important". |

His hair is normally in the typical elven style, with locks hanging on either side of his face and the rest pulled back in a ponytail. He clads himself in a deep blue cloak with silver stitching that is normally pulled around his body. At each side of the cloak's mantle hang small flaps of cloth with a silver arcane sigil on them (his arcane mark). He also normally has fine black leather boots and gloves with silver hardware. His shirt underneath is a light tan and his pants are black. Era'when carries a fine elvish longsword and longbow and normally has a book satchel across his chest. A long, dark green sash wraps around his waist and has various pouches and pockets hanging from it. Personality Era'when is friendly with people he knows well, but those who he doesn't would likely call him arrogant. He carries himself with the aire of one who is not to be bothered with normal everyday matters, but is clearly not as mature as many elves his age. He is often a bit...impetuous. Interests Era'when takes great interest in any matters of magic, secrets, or treasure. He is also quite curious to explore the underground and see some monsters firsthand. Quirks Era'when speaks with a strange accent of the gray elf kingdom, as he is unused to the common speech; he occasionally slips elvish words into his sentences. Motivation Having recieved a letter requesting his assistance right when he was ready to begin his adventuring career, Era'when is simply out to see where the winds will take him. He wants to see as much of the world as he can, see some strange creatures, hone his skills, and find some great treasure that will make a name for him (and make his father proud)...he just hasn't figured out which one yet. Backgr[/u] Growing up in the capital of the gray elven nation, Era'when knew little of the dangers outside. His was father a well-known professor at the best school of magic and his mother a housewife who occasionally helped man the walls with her bow. Era'when was, of course, enrolled in his father's school, the primier academy of magic. Unfortunately, he quickly fell behind other students as he lacked their dillegence, clearly more interested in playing games or spying on the girls' dorms. He developed a knack for moving unseen throughout the halls of the academy, as well as other less-savory tasks, such as snitching food from the kitchen or trying to get a look at the latest magic artifact that graced the school (which often got him in trouble, as it took him awhile to master the ability to find magic wards). Despite his falling behind a year behind the other students, Era'when still managed to graduate from the school as a diviner (putting a lot of emphasis on learning to detect magic) and set to the task of finding a job. Being employed as a magician in the city was certainly difficult, as the academy produced a great many good wizards, and he soon decided he would start adventuring. His training keeps him trim and wirery so he carries himself with a grace beguiling of his frame. A youth of 23 his dark blonde hair is streaked with lighter strands from his time spent outside and is generally windblown and tangled. It frames a youthful face that has care lines worn around his multicolored eyes. Not noticable at first glance his eyes go from green to grey to brown upon closer inspection. Taes usually reather plain cloths: breeches, a shirt, a sash, and a cloak. The two kama his master gave him are tucked in his sash, behind his back so that they are unnoticable from the front. Background Taes Atwin was born in Naerie, under the shadow of the Scarlet Brotherhood. His father was born with Suel blood in his veins, and believed the Scarlet Brotherhood's dogma of Suel superiority. He used these beliefs to justify his actions as he turned in neighbor after neighbor. Actions that eventually paid off when he was offered a position in the espionage branch of the brotherhood's government. He was given training to help him spy on the populas and neighboring kingdoms. It was this training that young Taes was first given. As a child Taes was raised to believe that he was better than other simply because he had Suel blood in him. His father groomed him to join the Scarlet Brotherhood's band of spies when he came of age. Even at a young age this did not sit well with Taes. By the time he was 13 he realised he did not want to becaume his father, and hated everything his father stood for. It was not too long after that that he left Naerie, and he has not been back since. After Taes left Naerie he joined up with a band of "freedom fighters", called the Azure Wolves, that claimed to be dedicated to fighting the Scarlet Brotherhood from within its own borders. Taes quickly became disillusioned with the group once he realised they were nothing more than brigands using the facade of revolution to justify their crimes. Still, Taes stayed with them, trying to reform them, not because he thought he could, but because he had no where else to go. The final straw came when the group attacked a merchant coming out of Onnwal, headed north east. There was no way to justify this action as a blow against oppression, it was thievery pure and simple. A week later, in the city of Irongate, as the rest of the troop was getting drunk and whoring, Taes slipped off and turned his comrades in to the local constable. Alone and aimless Taes left Irongate, leaving the Wolves in chains vowing to exact revenge. For the next few years Taes Atwin wandered the contryside doing odd jobs and preforming security evaluations for rich merchants. He eventually found himself in the Duchy of Urnst near the Cairn hills. It was here he met an old man named Kia'shel Murito. Kia'shel befriended the lonly young man and convinced him to come to a place called Flannae-Tel. Here the Al D'ai Shaton trained, and Taes was introduced to the Da'Shon, or Falling Hail, way of fighting and to Zuokan, the god the monks of Flannae-Tel worshipped. Taes spend almost five years training in the ways of unarmed combat while he and Kia'shel formed a closer bond. Over the course of those five years Taes became an accomplished martial artist and, as his training neared the end, he was torn as to which path his life should take. On one hand he wanted to explore the world, but he also wanted to stay and help Kia'shel train others. Unfortunately time took that choice from him when it took Dia'shel Murito's life. Dia'shel died quietly in his sleep, knowing it would be his final night on Oerth. That day hehad taken Taes aside and said that he thought Taes should follow his heart and explore the world. To help Taes on this path he gave Taes his prized kamas, and a simple ring he always wore, telling Taes that as long as he wore this ring he would need neither food nor water, and just the barest of sleep. The next day, after Dia'shel was entombed, Teas left the monastary and wandered the realm, eventually finding himself aboard the Wave Rider, headed for the Bright Coast with a new group of friends. Personality Taes takes Al'Akbar's dogma very seriously and sees himself as sort of a "Big Brother" to the other members of the group. When he thinks a course of action is in the best interest of the group he will argue it to the point it seems he is trying to bully the rest of the group although it is really just his protective nature. Taes had spent too much time out in the world before joining the monks at Flaess-Tel and was too worldly to be the disenfranchised monk that comes to mind when you here the word. He takes delight in the world around him and does not feel ashamed for it. For example: since Taes Atwin no longer needs to eat he will often forgo eating regular mundane meals for days or weeks at a time, only to use the money he saved to buy a lavish feast complete with the finest of wine and exotic fare. After gorging himself for the entire night he will go back to abstinence for the rest of the week. Taes is also the eternal optimist. Despite his abysmal past he still gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. He has taken the fact that he is constantly let down and, instead of letting it destroy his optimism, has used it to reinforce his forgiving nature. Hence when friends do not live up to his expectations it only takes him a little while to forgive them... and build those expectations right back up! |
