"Not at all," Era'when says, as he slips back into the shadows to follow the group hidden once more.

Ythan shrugs, "Do you mean the ruin that is immediately surrounding the pool? Because that's the only large ruins that I see around."
Ythan creeps toward the leg a bit, and, taking out his spear, attempts to draw the leg back to him while trying to stay as far from the pool as possible. |

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

Taes stand about and waits for the group to make a decision. "I see no reason to avoid the pool. If this island really did just rise out of the ocean it makes sense that some of the water would pool in the lower parts of the ocean. Of course that dead body is disturbing, but there is nothing to tie it to the pool of water."
__________________________________________________________ Not caring one way or the other, or even understanding what the discussion is about, Narthos circles around the group and tries to loot the corpse before Ythan can. (OOC: from my undertanding the leg is sticking out of the grass near the pool, not out of the pool itself.) |

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

(OOC: Yes, it's sticking out of the grass besides the pool, as my previous description indicated)
As you move closer to the pool, you notice the owner of the leg. A Kuo-toa, alone with its three other friends, lie dead in the grass near the pool. They wield short spears, and all four of them were snapped in half, just like the one found a while ago. |

Ythan will move forward, and attempt to determine, through tracks and so forth, what sort of opponents these Kuo Toa may have had.

"Hhhmmmm. It appears that someone does not like weapons..." Taes says as he looks at the rest of the group. "I certianly hope they do not try and take MY weapons away from me." he says as he holds up his hands.
____________________________________________________________ Seeing more Kuo-Toa laying there Narthos leaves the one Ythan is wrestling alone and plunders the others."Quietly, slowly, do not draw attantion." he thinks to himself. |

Era'when tries to stealthily move up to see just what killed the Kuo-toa [i.e. what sort of wounds do they appear to have...].

Corian stands aside, distastefully looking at the pool...nervous, he wonders if the creature responsible might lurk underneith the scummy water, and be fully prepared to kill again. "Have we done enough here yet? I think we would be best served to be moving along."

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

Looking at the corpses, it's obvious these creatures have been gnawed upon. To Corian, however, he can see the biting wounds are not the fatal cause of their death; they died from strangulation. By what, it's unknown. Meanwhile, Ythan searches around the area, but can locate no other tracks besides the webbed footprints.

Ythan concludes looking for tracks, no doubt shoving Northos aside at least once if he is about to trample over a set of traks. "Taes, will you keep your pet under control? He almost ruined this set of tracks here."
Upon finishing, he will address the others. "There are no footprints, other than that of these folk. None. And these people were strangled. I don't like this. Maybe we should move on." Ythan will begin to move around the ruin, looking for another exit from this clearing. |

Taes motions for Narthos to come over to him. "Don't be so hard on him Ythan." Taes says in a strong voice, "We were all traipsing around. He was not doing anything we were not. Except beating you to the punch looking at the bodies."
___________________________________________________________ As Ythan pushes Narthos out of the way the goblin lets out a low hiss and takes refuge behind Taes, metally makeing a note of Ythans actions (OOC: I think that was one my most mistake filled posts! No IC changes, just grammer issues.) |

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

Looking around, and adding in the observation you've made earlier before you approach the Island, you can roughly discren the general geographical features of the island.
<OOC: For easy reference, the island has been seperate into several areas. Area A, B, and E are apparent, it's the beach area, ruins (all around the pool around the center of the map), and seashore cave, respectively. Area C and D are the largest buildings that are more or less intact within the ruins. |

Ythan gives a hiss back at Narthos, and then looks in Taes direction. "He was about to mess up tracks that I hadn't had a look at yet. I am trying to determine what had happened here, and, as far as I could tell, all he was doing was trying to loot the bodies, which he is more than welcome to do once I am done doing something useful."
Ythan moves off to scout out the mostly intact building nearest them, bow at the ready. |

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

As you look abuot the ruins on the Isle of the Deep, a sense of dread begins to well up within you; hundreds of gulls take flight, and the earth begins to rumble and shake. Ancient green stone crumbles in small showers from the remaining buildings, and you need to lie down to keep yourself from falling over. A terrible cracking hoise, as if a god was splitting a mountain with a giant hammer, roars beneath you. After a few long moments that seem like hours, the rumbling passes into a low growl, and the earth begins to stablize.
Once the ordeal is done, you take stock of the damage around you. The building look a little worse for wear, but they haven't yet collapsed. As your gaze settles on the pool, you realize with a start that all of the water is gone; all that's left is a gaping hole in the earth. Carefully observing the area, you note that the earth beneath the pool has crumbled away, and a crude shaft extends down into darkness. |

"Blessed Pelor, protect us...watch over us in this time of trial." Corian softly repeats the prayer as the earth slowly ceases shaking. Looking about, he considers,"My misgivings about this place redouble each time I think they can get no worse. I fear the next such shake shall be to return this isle to the deeps. Howe'er, we've also discovered naught. The large ruin south of here seems to hold as much promise as anything. What say you? Shall we?"

"Into the crevasse!" Era'when says. "I'll cover you, then come on down," he says with a wry look, bow drawn. "I have to agree with you, Corian, this place is giving me the creeps...but it certainly is an adventure!" It seems Era'when might actually be getting a bit more excited about things now, despite the obvious danger.

Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

Ythan gets up, then looks into the shaft. "I hate when fate opens doors like this. But generally, if you ignore her, fate can make things much worse on you. I guess we should check out this sheft while it is empty of water."
Ythan looks for a good place near the hole to secure a rope (a decently buried column, perhaps), and begins to do so. |

SuperJoshP |
Re: Chapter Five, The Island of Woe

As Ythan secures the rope Taes walks up to "help" him. "I really think I should go in first." he says as his help immediately turns into an arguement for him taking the lead. "I am a better climber than you and will not have to rely on weapons if thing go poorly on the way down."
