Re: Night | ||

When the dragon completely disappears, Ythan sheathes his rapier and readies his bow. "We should leave this place as soon as we can." Looking to the west, he grimaces. "No hope of finding that arrow in the dark...well, nothing for it." He adjusts his pack and begins the journey south once everyone is ready.

Beaming at Corwin, Taes congratulates him. "Great job. now if you could have done that before I wasted two potions..." Taes leaves the rest unsaid but his tone and his smile make it obvious he is joking.
Turning to Ythan Taes nods. "I agree, lets get going. After all if that thing really can return I want to be long gone when it does." With that Taes finds Narthos and heads out wiht the rest of the group. |

Corian waits a moment, after the others have started away. Staring at the ground where the dragon vanished, he intones, "Lord Pelor, thank you for your deliverance. With gratitude, shall I greet you with the dawn."
With that, Corian jogs to catch up with the others, an enthusiastic spring in his step. |

"Most impressive. Cursed beasts are scary! Let's get out of here while we still can..."

Re: Night | ||

You quickly make your way through the deserts, resting whenever needed. The journey back was uneventful, and with the protection provided magically, you are able to withstand all the heat. Eventually, after approximately a bit more than two days, you arrive back at the shore where you once landed earlier. It is currently still a few hours before daybreak, the promised time for the Wave Rider to return.

The elf sighs with relief once the sea is in sight. "It's official now, I hate the desert," he says. "The sooner we get out of here, the better off we are! Now where is that ship?" he says, as he looks out to sea.

Ythan shrugs. "Dawn is a few hours yet. Just be patient." Seeming to be in a bit of a lighter mood, he adds, "How can you hate the desert? We only had the one sandstorm."
Ythan will nock an arrow and watch the three paths. |

Noting Ythans arrow and his frequent glances towards the three paths Teas nods to the ranger. "This is the part I dread the most too. The waiting. We are so close to being free that it seems disaster must strike."
With a final glance around Taes motions for Narthos to come over to him and continues to try and teach the creature the common tongue. Picking up a handful of water he points to it and says "water", then makes a broad sweeping motion that encopmasses the whole of the water and says "Ocean". Taes will continue the lesson until the boat arrives or something interupts it. |

Ythan glances over at Taes. "Um, Taes, you may want to start saying your goodbyes now, so it doesn't come on him suddenly. I doubt the captain is going to let him on board."

Re: Night | ||

Taes gives Ythan a questioning glance, as if the thought never accured to him, then asks. "Why wouldn't the captian let him on board? He has been a stalwart companion since we found him and has helped us in battle and warned us from danger. We just need to explain that to the captain." Taes pauses and looks around at the rest of the group for support. "Right guys? You will back me up, help me convince the captian that Narthos can come along."

Re: Night | ||

"Err...that one I don't know about...I really doubt any amount of convincing from us is going to get the little guy on board. Maybe if someone had a way of disguising him, like a magic hat...they were very popular when I was at the academy, but I don't have one."
Era'when gives a somewhat sad look, "I will do what I can, I suppose, goodness knows he's helped us all become a bit more worldly...but I doubt it will be good enough..." |

Re: Night | ||

Taes eyes light up at the idea of a disguise. "That is perfect! That way we can get the captain to accept him and once he likes Narthos we can tell him what he really is."

"I have no love of deception. We spared the creature, and in turn, he neither betrayed us nor failed us. To take him further on, particularly since we've no clear sign of his intent, would be a grave disservice. We would be separating him from his homeland, his people."
Corian looks at Taes, trying to soften his tone. "I think it would be for the best for all concerned if this is where we parted ways." |

Re: Night | ||

Turning to Corian, Taes addresses the cleric, "I do not like lieing either, that is why we do not lie. If Captain Farland askes us if it is a scaley demihuman we say 'yes', but if he does not ask we don't tell." pondering Corians other words for a moment the monk finally speaks up. "You are right about seperating him from his homeland and his people. However we saw his people slaughtered by the dragon and he has made no attempt to go home. We do not even know if he has anyone to go to. To leave him here alone would be to kill him slowly instead of haveing done it quickly when we first saw him. I say we ask him and let him decide."
With this Taes turns to Narthos and beckons him closer. He then takes out his dagger and croutches down in the sand. Using his dagger he draw likenesses of each member of the group and then aways a bit one of Narthos. He also draws sand dunes and an ocean. Then an arrow the point to the group crossing the ocean and an are showing Narthos crossing the dunes. Next Taes draws a picture of the group with Narthos in it and the ocean. On that picture he draws arrows of the entire gropup, including the kobald going across the ocean. If Narthos does not understand Taes will use hand jestures and charade the group leaving the creature behind, and do the same with the creature coming along. |

"I can cast my spell that will let me understand his speech, if you would like," Era'when offers, "but it won't help us communicate to him, only to hear his response."
[OOC: If anyone wants him to, Era'when will cast Comprehend Languages and lay his hand on Narthos (it's required for the spell to work), then relay anything he says to the party. Also, I'm getting ready to be gone for a week, like I said...I might get another post or two in before my girlfriend gets here.] |

Re: Night | ||

Narthos makes his choice clear and without hesitation: he points to the picture with everyone leaving together. Seems as though he wants to leave this place just as badly as you do. He then draws a little boat in the sand, and shrugs.

Beaming, Taes turns to Corian. "I guess that was an easy choice for him. Now I just hope getting him on the boat is as easy."
Turning to Narthos the monk points at the picture of a boat and says "boat" then draws arrows from the boat to the group. Then a picture of the sun raising and says "dawn". |

Ythan shrugs, muttering, "I should never have volunteered to follow that set of tracks..." SPeaking up, he says, "I just hope he can understand what you are drawing. So, if that hunting party of his was all of his people, where were the females and children?"
[OOC: I thought NArthos was a goblin, not a kobold. Am I remembering wrong?] |

"Well, I do have one other option, which I am totally against: I can make Narthos temporarily invisible...long enough, probably, to get him stowed away on the ship, if we act quickly. I am against it, but if we have no choice, then it might be our best option..."

Re: Night | ||

"I agree Era'when, taking narthos on in disguise is one thing, sneaking him on completely unknown is another. No I say we either explain it to Captian Farland and let logic prevail, or disguise him and reveal his true race later." Taes says to Era'when.
