Ythan looks at the goblin. "If you disguise him, the Captain will be that much the angrier when he finds out - captains seem to have this thing about wanting to know everything that goes on aboard their ships. Besides, this one has lived in the desert all his life, so leaving him here would not be an automatic death sentence, now that he is healthy. He's as likely as not to react badly once we are out of sight of land, and possibly get himself hurt. And what are you going to do when you have to go into a town? I don't think you are thinking this through, Taes."

"I, too, will not accept deception in this matter, nor a situation that may cause conflict between allies...look on this! Here we have fallen to argument over this matter."
Corian glances at Narthos once more, then looks Taen in the eyes. "If you still wish to bring him with us, then I shall speak to the Captain, truthfully, of what he has done. I shall ask that he accept Narthos under our care and control. However, I will not vouch for Narthos, nor pledge for his conduct, nor pay his passage if the Captain should require it. If you wish to do these things, you may. And I will not be party to a lie that brings him aboard. If the Captain will not be swayed by honest argument, then we must respect his wishes, and that it is his vessel." |

As you discuss the matter at hand, you can see the light of the sun slowly emerges from the east... it's nearly daybreak. To the far south, near the horizon, you can see some sort of vessel approaching. If this is the Wave Rider, Captain Farland is surely a man of very strict time senses and promises.

Taes thinks for a moment. "You are right: to do the wrong thing for the right reasons is still doing the wrong thing. I agree we should talk to the captian beforehand and let him decide. If it comes to paying passage, I have coin that I am willing to part with. As far as bringing him into town... we will deal with that when the time comes. I know people will not accept him with open arms, but they might tolerate him."
Looking into the sunrise Taes covers his eyes and sees the boat arriving. "I do not pretend to know why he chooses to leave his land. Maybe I was right the first time. May he was being hunted. We do know he is a majic user, but we do not know his peoples view of arcane artists." As Taes wathces the boat draw closer he finishes. "Regardless olur first hurdle is approaching. I think I see the Sea Spray." |

Narthos watches your exchange of words with confusion and fear showing clearly on his face. The ship looks near, but it still took a good half an hour before finally landing near the coastline; it's indeed the Wave Rider. A lifeboat was lowered, and a sailor quickly rows it towards you. You feel... relived.

He will give a last glance at the hill paths behind them as they wait for the life boat. |

The lifeboat arrives at the shore, and a sailor waves at you. "You survived! Got some good findin's? Come, we go back to the ship... what's that? Got yourself a norker prisoner?"

Looking at the sailor, Corian comments, "That is a matter for us to take up with the good Captain. Pelor be praised that you have returned. Now, if you please, see us away from this foul shore."

"Not much, just one of them desert roaming goblins." The sailor replies as everyone boards the lifeboat. "Heard Rary got some lot of them shipped to this place for his war... I dunno what the Captain's gonna say about you bringing it to his ship though."
The sailor quickly paddles the lifeboat towards the ship, and soon you again arrive at the Wave Rider. Captain Farland waves, "Hey hey, my map is useful eh? Lady Marya Jernal is also here, she has something to tal... what the hell is that? Don't think about bringing that thing on my ship!" The last remark was clearly directed at Narthos. |

Throwing on his best smile Taes directs his attention to the captian. "Captain Farland, before you jump to conclusions and make a hastey decision I implore you to here us out. We found Narthos'" with this Taes motions to the goblin, "tribe slaughtered by a ghost-dragon, and he himself alone and injured in the desert. Healing him we decided he should stay with us not only so that he did not die but also so he could not summon more of his tribe. Since he has been under our care he has not tried to escape, nor has he attempted to hinder us in any way. In fact he has warned us of impending danger and even fought at our side. He has done nothing but show himself to be of good character and trustworthy mettle. As we waited for you to arrive this morning we asked Narthos if he would rather stay in the desert or come with us. He choose to come with us."
Silent for a moment Taes waits until it appears the captian is almost about ready to speak. "Lady Marya said you were a stout captian and worthy of our respect. I do not think she would speak so of a man that would deny passage to a another man even though all his actions have shown him to be an honorable and trustworthy companion..." Taes lets the last sentence linger in the air. As he waits for the captian's reply it is obvious that he fully expects this to be the end of the arguement. After all Narthos is a good guy and Taes truly believes the captian will look past the goblin's heritage and let him on board. |

The Captain frowns with a face of disbelief, "You expect me to believe that critter will..."
"Let them come up, we can talk while leaving this place," Captain Farland is interrupted by a familiar female voice, that of Lady Marya Jernal that recruited you all. "I believe Taes' word. Even if his mind is clouded, should the norker prove to be an enemy, it can be easily eliminated with minimal harm. Let us be on our way, pressing matters awaits us." Without words, the Captain signals to all the sailors who promptly help you aboard the ship once more, including Narthos, who stays by Taes nearly at all times. "It is your responsibility then." Marya contiunes, "To make sure this norker will not turn out to be an obstacle of any sort. I trust that you are all very tired now, you should have a comfortable rest, your findings and my words will wait until later today." You are escorted to your rooms on the ship as it departs this cursed land. |

Taes Looks around at his comrades, positively beaming. His bearing and expression showing that in his mind Lady Marya Jernal's permission validates his veiws on Narthos and people in general.
As the group boards the ship Taes smiles at Narthos and pats him on the back as he goes to talk to the Lady. "Lady Marya Jernal what could be so pressing that we find you waiting for us on our arrival?" he asks. |

"Yes, what brings you out this far? I suppose we we have a great deal to show you, ne?" the grey elf speaks up after climbing aboard.
Turning to the captain, "I appreciate your allowing Narthos on board, I, too, vouch for him, although I share your inhibitions. Fear not." |

At the lady's 'mind is clouded' comment, Ythan lets out a quiet snicker. He adds, "Don't worry my Lady; If it should turn out to be a danger to any of us, the norker will find it difficult to go on with an arrow or two in its throat." Looking over at Taes, he returns the smile.
Ythan will then proceed to his quarters, to wash, change clothes, tend to Taya, and rest. |

Re: Night | ||

After a good rest, you are summoned again to the deck. You feel relaxed seeing the ship sailing towards Onnwal at steady speed, and the comfortable sea breeze soothes your body and mind even further... however, as suspected, Marya's news does bring you similar feelings.
"First of all I want to thank you again for undertaking such a dangerous task with minimal backup, and I wish to show my appreciation... no, my church and my goddess' appreciation, by granting each one of you a magical medal that brings blessings of the sea." Marya hands each one of you a small medallion on a necklace, crafted out of coral into the shape of a whale. After she explains the functions of the medallion, she examines what you present to her, and carefully collects them into some sort of extradimensional storage device that Era'when and Corian both regonize as a Portable Hole. "I will study these materials when I have time, and hopefully recover the peace of mind of my charge; if you are interested, I will most certainly share the findings with you." Marya pauses for a relatively long moment, appears to be considering how to phrase her words. "My Divination shows that, there were some sort of... disturbance in the desert, near my original assumption of where the tower was, and a gap to the Negative Energy Plane. I am not sure if this is in some way connected to your... explorations of the tower, but nevertheless it seems to have triggered something. The gap closed by itself shortly after, but what's really interesting is that Negative Energy was poured into the Negative Energy Plane instead of vise versa, which is different from what normally would be the case when such phenomenon occurs, for example when Necromancers or evil Priests perform foul magics. "Now, shortly after this event, the Isle of Woe appeared again; I am sure most of you have heard of the Isle of Woe, but in case you have not, I'll briefly describe its origin. It is an island among the Isles of the Deep, where an evil king dwelled quite a long time ago with his kingdom. For unknown reasons, the Isles were consumed, or sent, to the Ethereal Plane, occationally phasing into the Material Plane for brief periods of time. Many explorations were taken place, few have returned before the Isle disappear again. Those few that returned recovered nothing but the fact the Isles' inhabitants are long gone, but the endless treasures are all there. They all claim to have seen great wealth, but none of them possessed anything to prove their words. "The Isle of Woe is the only one that did not disappear at that time, but rather regularly shift back and forth between the Material and the Ethereal Plane. When the gap in the tower... in the desert phased in ahead of schedule, and has not phased back for a long time now. They could very well be connected, and ancient text has some sort of prophecies regarding this event as well; the text are diffcult to comprehend, but one sentence I am sure of, speaks of 'Thieves of the Dream that bridge into the Darkness, Woe brings Woe from the ancient curse.' "So, what I am asking, is your great favor again; would you accept the Lady of the Sea's calling once more, and prevents the foretold disasters from happening?" |
