One more note, the ruin can provide cover from sun until 2 hours before noon, (which means if you want, it can provide cover for another 3-4 hours or so) after that the sunlight is too direct to block.

Darken, you didn't answer my question about our animals. Did they take 12 subdual as well from the sand storm, or some other amount?
And, I am assuming that, since my hawk has 1 HD, she regains 1 subdual point an hour. Correct? And since Andorax brought it up in character, about how far do I think the tower is from us, if that map was close to correct? |

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Sorry I must have missed the question. Your animal companion would likely be taking the same kind of subdual damage you've been taking, unless somehow protected. And yes, if she has 1 HD, she would regain 1 subdual damage per hour.
If the map is correct, using your best judgement, it would be approximately just less than 1 day or travel (meaning less than 8 hours). Darken Light, is the lack of darkness. |

Okay, so I probably made a nest for her in my pack, since she is unconcious.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

I guess there's one thing that's confusing me here...I wanted to be sure that we're on the same page here with the DM. It might help clairify the present debate.
Do you recover subdual damage even when "on the march"? If we'll get the sub back regardless, whether standing or walking, then I'm *less* worried about continuing on our way to the tower...though still nervous about hitting an encounter an hour out. Currently, Corian's point of view, and comments, are based on a pre-assumption that you do not recover subdual while marching. "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Just one more note in case you don't know, that the subdual from the sandstorm can be healed. IMO I wouldn't waste spells trying to heal those, but they are different from the heat subduals.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

According to the SRD, you heal subdual damage at 1 hp per level. It doesn't specify you have to be resting per se. I would think that, since we are no longer taking sandstorm damage, we would start healing it whether we were sitting or walking.
This is the assumption on which I based Ythan's comments. |

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||
|
As long as you are in a situation that does not force the same kind of subdual damage, the subdual damage heals slowly by itself, even if you are not "resting". In this case, it doesn't matter if you are resting or walking, unless you are too tired, the subdual damage will heal itself. Of course, if you rest and perform a heal check, you can heal double the amount as the heal rule in PHB.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Hey, guys, since we had travelled for four hours, and rested for one, we should be clear of subdual damage from the sandstorm, animal friends excepted.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

I think we had best better get a marching order worked out.
Unless there's an objection, I would recommend the following: 15' or wider (heading north): YCT EN 10' wide: YC EN T 5' wide: Y C E T N Taes, I have no doubt of your melee capabilities, but you've the best mobility of all of us (through tumble if nothing else) and it's only going to get better from here. If you need to get to the front, you can do so in short order. Besides, it helps you provide some rearguard defense to our resident mage. "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Andorax, that is fine with me as long as we are not worried about traps. If we are you might want to put me up front.
Darken: Before we get too far down in the tower I would like to talk to Narthos and explain to him about the seals. Egad...that's one for the recordbooks. Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

He's right about the traps, Andorax. Ythan is just impatient (in case no one noticed), but that doesn't mean he's the best up front when there might be traps.
BTW, if Ythan is first in 5' or last, then he will have the rapier and shortsword out. All other times he will have the bow out. |

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Begs the question, then...who's got the light source? I'm good for half an hour or so in a pinch without burning a hand, but I'm a mace-and-shield fighter myself and somewhat shy on spare limbs.
If we're actively searching for traps, then alter all orders to put Taes 10' ahead of Ythan. If we're not searching, have him fall back to listed location? "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

I'm hoping someone else takes up Ythan's torch, perhaps Taes, since he doesn't need one particular hand or t'other to kick but. Or our mage could carry it, if he's not planning on using the bow.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||
|
Well, I guess first we need to decide if we are searching for traps or not. If we are then Taes needs the light source and will run 10 ahead of teh party. If we are not Taes still does not mind carring the torch, but it wil not be as effective if he is the back will it?

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

If there are no further comments, I will take Andorax's suggestions as the default marching order. That is, unless directly states otherwise, they would be the order you are travelling within this tower. It will also be assumed that Ythan is carrying the torch, unless IC actions are taken to switch the holder.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

I think we already had Taes take the torch from Ythan, and I'd just as soon make Taes carrying it the SOP.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Fine with me as Taes does not need his hands free for anything else.

Re: Chapter Two OOC | ||

Just realized that I still need three more languages for Era'when. Are there any that are campaign-specific that I need to be aware of, or should I just pick from the standard elf/wizard list? Is there a thieve's cant sort of language (I know there isn't normally, but it seems to be a pretty common addition).
