Chapter Two, Dream |
Lead | |
|
Still in the blazing sands of the Bright Desert, your pursue of a odd looking track led you to this goblinoid, lying face down. It would appear this may be the only surviver of the slaughter which may have taken place just a few hours ago to the east. Corian attempts to keep it alive, and finds that his wounds, although severe, are not fatal; he is merely unconcious, exhausted from the heat. Without aids, however, he will soon be really dead. His crippled leg is what created the oddity in the track, one can almost still smell the sizzling electricity that burnt its flesh.

Ythan kneels to the creature. "Era'when, ready your spell." With that he turns the creature over and sits him up, kneeling behind it to give it support with his knee. Ythan then dips his finger in one of his freshly-filled water skins, and waves the finger under the creature's nose.

Seeing Ythan willing to take on the care of the creature, and Era'when the questioning, Corian walks some distance away, lost in thought and seemingly quite troubled.

Ythan's effort seems to have some positive effect, yet still not enough to bring the creature to conciousness. It would appear that some healings would be required, mundane or magical, to bring him to conciousness in a timly manner.

Seeing that Corian wants to be alone with his thoughts, but also seeing that Ythan is not having much luck reviving the fallen goblinoid Taes noisily approaches Corian.
"Hey Corian!" Taes says once he is sure he has been noticed. "I hate to interupt you, but I think Ythan has reached the limit of what his skills can do for that creature. I was just not sure if you wanted to... to waste one of your spells on the thing or not." he finishes his thought tenitively, trying not to upset Crian any more than he already has. |

Ythan will lay it back down, and attempt to see what he can do about the burns on its leg.

Turning to the rest of the group, Corian asks, "Is there aught we genuinely *need* from this beast? I am loathe to assist it unless it would serve a greater purpose, but will concede it if you all think it the wiser course."
Corian will then assist Ythan (or better still, have him assist me) in providing further mundane treatment, while awaiting the group's answer. |

Ythan shrugs. "It all depends upon what it knows about the tower, and what it's willing to tell. I have no idea; the buggers can be stubborn. We should try what we can first before deciding whether or not to wast a spell on it."

"Of course we need to heal him!" Taes exclaims, "Besides the fact that he is in trouble, he might have useful information. It's not like we can just leave him out here to DIE!"

Ythan looks at Taes. "We are not equipped to take prisoners. If we send him on his way, it would be a death sentence if we didn't give him several waterskins, each of which we will need. Besides, he may alert others to our presence if set free. There really is no other option."
"If you think it would be too cruel to put it out of its misery once it's told us what it can, then we should leave it as is and be on our way." |

Re: Chapter Two, Dream | ||

Despite the arguements, Corian and Ythan work in decent synergy. With some more water to cool the creature down, and some skillful resurrection processes, the creature opens its eyes. Era'when gestures and incants a simple word, then places his hand upon the creature. The creature looks hazily around, ignoring Era'when, but stops when he sees the waterskin. He quickly grabs it, but is too weak to wrestle it out of Ythan's hands
It than speaks, in a raspy, tired tone, "Guloo, Guloo! Igaru tja, se Jgar mei ut!" To all but Era'when it's just a bunch of gibberish, but Era'when understands that the creature means "Water, Water! Dunno you, but kill me not!" (OOC: Does anyone know any site or program that will generate meaning ful gibberish in another fantasy language? It's hard to write gibberish yourself while trying to remember all the wierd things you make up for future references. |

Ythan keeps a firm hand on the waterskin, and looks to Era'when. "Do you understand that gibberish? Is he saying anything besides begging for water?"

Taes is silent for a long moment as Corian and Ythan heal the creature. "Yo are right. We can not take the time, nor the risk that taking him prisoner would cause. I still do not approave of killing him, but I can think of no other alternative."

"Nor can we, now," intones Corian...a look of deep sincerity upon his face. "Ere'whan, inform him that he shall serve as a bearer for us, that so long as he serves us faithfully, his life will not be forefit."
Turning to Taes and Ythan as they react in shock, Corian continues, "To allow him to die, to do nothing, would have been the fate he had wrought for himself. To kill him in cold blood, after having restored him from the brink of death...this would be a dark act indeed, even against one such as this." Corian then awaits Ere'whan's report of what information he has gained from the creature, and if it understands what has taken place. |

Ythan shrugs. "As long as it's clear it is not my responsibility, it doesn't matter to me. It may be put to good use I guess. But we may want to gag it so it can't shout any warnings to our enemies. And bind its arms so it can't remove the gag. And bind its feet so it can't run out and give warning when we need to hide. And then carry it, since at that point it won't be very good as an equipment bearer."

"Nonsense," the beaming Taes says to Ythan as he hands the goblin 2 of his water skins. "He can't be stupid enough to run off. Not after we saved him and gave him water."
Turning to the goblin he points to himself and says "Taes." |

Re: Chapter Two, Dream | ||

The creature looks at Taes, then points to himself, "Taes? Meiar Narthos!" Then start to drink happily. After only about a few seconds though, he looks around and stops drink, tightens up the waterskin and gives it back to Taes, "Guloo iwr, qoop ahu ut."
(OOC: It is assumed that Era'when translates for you so you understand what he means. He is saying, "Taes? My name Narthos!" and "Water rare, drink many not." respectively in above conversation.) |

Ythan looks upon the scene, replies. "I hope you take good care of your pet then, Taes, because as we get closer to our objective, I doubt not we will find out where its loyalties lie. I only hope I am wrong."
"Speaking of our objective, we should be off soon. Find out what we can from it and let's get going." Ythan scans the landscape to the North, looking for possible hazards which lie in their path. |

Re: Chapter Two, Dream | ||

As everyone heads north again, Narthos follows Taes closely, and always seems to position Taes between Corian and himself. Sometimes he tries to talk, but soon stops seeing there are no responses from anyone. The travel north is uneventful, save the odd creature fainted several times. Eventually, the sun sets, and the darkness starts to remove the heat. Soon, you do not feel hot anymore... in fact, you start to feel cold as the last bit of the sun descends behind the horizon.

Re: Chapter Two, Dream | ||

Corian watches the sun set, softly whispering, "Farewell, Lord Pelor...until the next dawn."
Looking upon his companions, and seeing the wearyness in their own eyes that closely matches his own, Corian asks, "Shall we make camp, then, and rest while we may? It would seem that it has been a tiring day for all. I would not protest a start that preceeds the dawn, if we wish to travel some portion of the night, but I would recommend getting that rest now rather than later. |

Re: Chapter Two, Dream | ||

Taes smiles and repeats the creatures name while pointing to it after Narthos introduces himself. When the goblin tries to give it back Taes only shakes his head and points to the three he still carries.
************ "Camp sounds like a good idea. I am weary, though I do not know which has worn me more: hte travel or the sun. I am not tired so I will take watch until I require sleep. Who should I wake?" As the group discusses it taes takes his blanket and, after a moments thought, hands it to Narthos while saying "Blanket" and pointing to it. oO"Al'Akbar guard my bedroll against Nartho's stench." he silently prays, only half joking as he wraps his cloak around him to protect himself from the cold. |
