Well.. Err.. Not to be rude or anything, but the opinion of americans on the matter isn't really very relevant. Other then to point out that way back then, they (americans) did offer to sort of help us out against the loyalists, who, after all, were the losing remnant of the war of independance. Luckily, we politely refused.

I know my opinion doesn't really mean anything in this matter. Not my country, hence, the "for all I care."

Heh. Sorry. I do get a bit touchy on the subject when I strongly suspect people giving their opinions to be woefully uninformed.

Technically, since Canada is still part of the Commonwealth, to this day it doesn't have independance from Britain.
In reality, Canada didn't gain independance from Britain until much later, when they finally repatriated the canadian constitution. ----------------------------------- Back to the years near the American Revolution.. After the US won the revolutionary war, the loyalists (technically american colonists who wanted to remain loyal to the Crown) moved north and reestablished themselves, in some sort of uneasy peace with New France. Shortly thereafter, they sorta annexed New France (at the time, France was going through it's own revolution, and really couldn't spare anything to help it's colony), which gave "birth" to Upper (nowadays Ontario) and Lower (nowadays Québec) Canada. And that was the foundation of what is now Canada. What I was refering to as "offered US aid" was during that time. The US, feeling they sorta owed a debt to France (and by extension, New France) reluctanctly offered aid to the french colonists against the loyalists. I say reluctanclty because, for valid reasons, they sorta didn't really want to get involved in a war with the Brits once again. However, their help consisted in offering that Québec would become a state, and the leaders of New France declined, and then went on to lose against the loyalists, due (as I mentioned above) to events happening in France. To this day, some Québec separatists believe that refusing the american offer was a mistake, but that is a point on which I disagree. As much as Québec is a non-fit in Canada, it would have been and be even worse in the USA. If you don't rate, just overcompensate, at least you know you can always go on Ricky Lake -The Offspring |

Technically, you'd have to say that what is now known as Canada invaded french territory. And I know for a fact that that did happen.

My question is: Why do the French hate the band "Arcade Fire" so much?
When the age of the vikings came to a close, they must of sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said: "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey |

For the same reason they loved Jerry Lewis, of course.

Since I have nothing good to say at the present time I'll just say, um...Canada is cold. A lot?
