I decided to write here to keep you guys all posted about my so-called "writing career" or lack thereof... Thought you might be interested to know what is going on in Becca's world of Trying To Get Published.
Here's the facts:
"The Wolverine and the Rose" -(fantasy romance) Currently being queried at two different publishing houses:
Dorchester Publishing AKA Leisure Books
&
TOR Books - TOR is also aware of "WatJ" and of a third story waiting in the wings I have yet to write or title. (It will be Ethan's story, between him and Duncan's sister)
Previously Rejected by: LUNA Books
"Heart of Gold" -(Christian romance) - Old West
Currently being queried at Steeple Hill Publishers
Previously Rejected by: Heartsong
"Love at First Sight" & "Second Chances" -(historical & contemporary romance short stories)
Currently both are being queried at Arabella Magazine, the most famous magazine for romance writers
No Rejections as of yet
I have had two poems published in two different poetry anthologies, one from Poetry.com, the other from FamousPoets.com
Current Works in Progress (WIP) -
"The Wolverine and the Jewel" 2/3rds to 3/4's completed - (Fantasy Romance) - Sequel to WatR, second in series of three.
Currently being pseudo-queried at TOR along with WatR
"Learning to Love Again" - (Christian Romance) - Old West
1/2 to 2/3rds finished.
TARGET: Steeple Hill Publishers
"Immortal Mine" - (Paranormal Romance) - Twin brothers, one's a vampire, one's a ghost, both love the same woman
1/2 finished.
TARGET: Triskelion Publishers (e-books)
That list above is what's on my plate right now. I figure with so much going on, I HAVE to get published somewhere!
But unfortunately, I have to wait a few months before I'll even know if I've been rejected by the above publishing houses.
TOR books said on their website that their turn around is anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months. It's already been a month, so not hearing back by two weeks is a GOOD THING! haha! In fact, they say the longer they wait to get back to you, the better your chances.
Of course, I queried Dorchester back in February and they say their turn around time is 6 to 8 MONTHS! So hopefully, I'll hear something from them soon.
But man, if TOR was interested, I think I would literally cry. It would be like getting accepted to Harvard or Yale or something. TOR is where Robert Jordan is published. It's where Terry Goodkind is published. L.E. Modesitt, Orsen Scott Card, Larry Niven.... Need I go on?
They just started a new fantasy romance line, and I'm so excited, I'm hoping to get my foot in the door there. I realize that WatR isn't the best book in the world, but if I can just get it published, damn, I would be happy!
