Since the party was able to enter the Abyss on several occasions, they were most likely powerful or incredibly lucky. Either way, words of their deeds will spread on their homeworld.
As they drop into mild naughtyness to pure evil, their character and personality will slowly change to match it. As a result, people meeting them will instead of walking away thinking "What brave and noble people" will walk away thinking "My, what arrogant assholes" or something similar.
Those who hear of their deeds and actions and respect the party greatly, while still wanting to fufill their desires for personal gain will go through with it. And why not, the Holy Light Party isn't exactly full of good people, and the population generally respects them still.
The more groups the Fiendss can corrupt, the darker their homeworlds become. I mean, when most of the bard's tales end with ".. and then the brave heroes became dark villians, and a plague on civilized lands. Cursed are their names!" the whole world just gets more and more depressed.
The only thing worth listening to that Johnny Cash has put out was his rendition of Hurt. - Ishn, 12/19/03 2:43 pm
