If the barb was of monster type and took the feat toughness, and con 20, he could take the feat Roll with it giving him an additional 2/- for a total of DR 6/-. However, if the barb took the feat Roll with it as all feats, the DR would be 16/- against the troll's Regeneration 5. If the barb multiclassed at 20th level to fighter he could gain additional feats and more of "Roll With It." Assuming that any respecting DM would allow this to happen, along with the barbarian/fighter combo both at lvl 20. Again, with the DM approval to this sort of beast, and the feats at the standard levels the DR would be somewhere around DR 30/- opposed to the troll's regeneration 5. With the ton of feats the barbarian 20/fighter 20 could go toe to toe with the PMAMT. Anyone care to comment? Sunshine Bear... a complex creature. Simple in nature and not easily understandable, this animal requires closer observation. But don't get too close, Sunshine Bear will attack, even if not provoked. Disarm is a very easy way to deal with most armed nasties. I had a 3rd level rogue disarm an Ogre/Barbarian and effectively neutralize him. DM was pretty cranked, but since it is just an opposed hit roll, it's easy enough to do. (Especially if you just read a true strike scroll, which my rogue had just done.) The troll is a mean little bugger, but once he's disarmed and slowed down, I think he'd be pretty cooked (no pun intended). Ideally, his opponent would have a 10 reach weapon, boots of springing and striding and spring attack, but even without, ranged weapons would eventually wear him down.

Be a cleric. Be evil. Have shovel, find graveyard.

Barbarian gets within 10', attempts to disarm. Barbarian +32 (adamantine weapon) vs troll's +34 (adamantine, huge, two-handed weapon). Notice that in order not to provoke an AOO, the barbarian in question needs to have imp. disarm and expertise (int 13 requirement) which seems a bit contrived for a barbarian. Can raging barbarians use expertise? as barbarian screams in blood frenzy, he simultaneously deftly dodges and parries with grace... "I have something to tell you, I'm not left handed either" he adds If barb provokes, PMAMT imp. sunders (possibly... 26 vs 32) his blade. If not, he sunders on his turn, or utilizing his 10' reach, grabs the barbarian (provoking AOO... but he's got more claw attacks where that came from... Unless barbarian has 3.5 combat reflexes) and beats him down in a grapple. Or just rends his ass. (there goes a nice visual) Grapple is tricky, since we're looking at +29 vs +29, but if the barb fails to break the grapple (his attempts are +29/+24/+19/+14 vs PMAMT's flat +29), he's dead in two rounds. Attack with light weapon (claw). Power attack, rend, rend, bite. Of course grappling rules state that you can't use two weapons in a grapple... Does that apply to natural weapons? Seems unlikely. Can monks flurry in a grapple? Hope they clean this up in 3.5. PMAMT could ignore all this grapple/sunder nonsense, and just trip the barbie (+14 vs +9), and then go to town on him. Barbie gets up, tries to leave, takes another AOO (unless he has tumble... Barbarians with tumble and expertise?), gets tripped again (possibly), dies. Even if barbie does disengage successfully, he can't utilize ranged weapons effectively in caves (hence the set-up). I'd say PMAMT holds up pretty well vs the most powerful (and vastly improved) 3.5 melee machine that's 6 levels higher to boot. Of course PMAMT has the advantage of home ground. Tanglefoot can be scraped off btw, and I'm not sure how it would work when thrown in a cave with 3' of water. Good try though . I love these threads.

Unless he sunders all their weapons that is. I guess I'll have to re-twink PMAMT for 3.5.

The barbarian is using a reach weapon, the troll is not. The barb may provoke an AOO, but if the troll can't reach him, he's out of luck. It can be, but even once scraped off, the person hit by it moves at half for 10 minutes. I don't think the water would help him much as the description for the bag doesn't mention anything about water helping to clean up the goo, you would simply have to make sure you hit him above the water line to ensure contact with the air. To be sure, he won't be glued to the floor, but with his dex bonus I don't think you would assume that he would be. (Could we glue him to the ceiling I wonder...) The sunder would be an option on his turn, but moving at half, he's going to have to make more than a 5' step to reach the barbarian, invoking another AOO. If the disarm failed on the first go around, the barb would try it on the second as well. Admittedly, it comes down to dice rolls, but considering the fact that the barb is facing down a 15 - 18 CR creature, and he is alone, and I haven't even given him any feats or a nasty weapon, he's doing pretty good. Throw combat reflexes, spring attack and his own adamantine weapon in and I think he'd do very well indeed.

Which is really weird. You can stab people with a dagger in a grapple, but you can claw them or punch them. I hope they fix this.
