Imagine a Devil - cold, cunning, calculating. A very ordered and systematic approach to problems. Now imagine that at any moment, this devil could change his mind, no longer honor his contracts, and act in a completely unpredictable manner.
Imagine a Demon - firey temper, quick to action. Imagine this demon is capable of calm, rational discussion, of making long range plans, capable of seeing beyond the here and now and beyond his own needs, but the needs of his entire species.
Now imagine that this Devil but-not-a-devil and this Demon but-not-a-demon are one in the same. And this creature, like most immortal planars, has a long memory. But unlike most planars, this one controls a vast spy network. While Demons and Devils care for souls, Yugoloths want Information.
Now imagine this creature, Unlike a Devil, does not keep his secrets secret. Not in the same way. While a Devil will merely say nothing on the subject, or pretend that he knows nothing, a Yugoloth will tell you stories and give you information for as long as you care to listen. And you can bet that part of it is truth. The problem is... which part?
If you can see a creature such as this, you're able to catch a bare glimps of what it means to be a Yugoloth.
Yugoloths are Liars. Yugoloths are Truthtellers. One would be a fool to trust a Yugoloth. One would be a fool not to.
