To reply to MerricB early post about needing two eyes to shoot a bow is incorrect. My "girlfriend with two rings" is a competitive archer and herself and many other archers use and eye patch to cover their non-dominate eye. Sure two eyes is good for judge range to target but you only use one eye to actually sight the bow. And since with completive target shooting you already know the range to target many shooters use an eye patch. The advantage to the eye patch is you leave both eye open but can only see out of one eye and this puts less strain on your dominate eye. If you close one eye your body tends to strain the eye left open. You fool the body by just covering the eye. It makes a big difference in the long run when firing 144 arrows in a two day match.

So if you lose and eye you might have problems guessing range to target but it should not have any major problems firing the range weapons although you may shoot over or under the target. That is unless it was your dominant eye you lost then your FUBAR’ed. In many shooting sports you will find that if a person it say, left eye dominate and right handed they will actually do better switching and shooting left handed taking advantage of their eye dominance. Its really surprising how much of a difference eye dominance makes in the shooting sports. I suppose that if you lost your dominate eye your body would cope with it and you could become as good a shot with you non dominate eye but it would take longer dealing with the lost of your dominate eye then you non-dominate eye.
