I'm sure you'll all notice a large change in this post. Some of you might even be asking "Who is this person who has 6000 posts?" If it wasn't for that custom title image, I bet nobody would even know who I was.
Yes, the Oolong avatar is retiring. No, that does not mean I am abandoning my post as Champion. In fact, I decided to combine two of the things you are all sick of hearing me talk about: Oolong and Arcana Unearthed. That said, I would like to present my Rabbit Totem Warrior class.
Mods: There is a 3.0 New Resources forum and a 3.5 New Resources forum. Since AU is neither 3.0, nor 3.5, you cannot say this is in the wrong forum (and be right)
Rabbit Totem
The rabbit totem warrior is ever alert, ready to spring at a moments notice. Unlike a normal rabbit, however, a totem warrior doesnt have to flee from his predators. Utilizing quick reflexes and heightened senses can allow the totem warrior to be surprisingly effective when threatened. As the character gains levels in this class, they begin to take on the appearance of a rabbit. His ears grow longer, his face a bit narrower and his feet grow in size.
Hit Dice: d8
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The rabbit totem warrior is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as agile exotic weapons, medium and light armors and shields.
Additional Class Skills: Balance (Dex), Sneak (Dex)
Special: All rabbit totem warriors gain +2 to Jump checks, Listen checks, and Sneak checks.
Animal Companion: [looking for rabbit stats]
Totem Powers: A rabbit totem warrior earns these powers as he gains levels:
1st Level Bounding Leap (Ex): The totem warrior gains +10 feet to his ground speed.
4th Level Shape of the Rabbit (Su): A 2 HD rabbit. At 4 HD, it becomes size Small, at 8 HD it becomes size Medium and at 12 HD it becomes size Large.
8th Level Sharp Perceptions (Ex): The rabbit totem warrior gains a +4 competence bonus to Listen and Spot and a +1 inherent bonus to Reflex saving throws.
12th level Constant Movement (Ex): The rabbit totem warrior never seems to sit still. He gains +1 dodge bonus to AC and cannot lose his dexterity bonus to AC due to being caught flat-footed.
16th Level Frantic Jumping (Ex): The totem warrior can take an extra standard action once per day per four class levels.
20th Level Its No Ordinary Rabbit (Su): Once per day, the rabbit totem warrior may make a special charge attack. He must declare the use of this attack before beginning the charge. If the attack misses, the ability
is considered wasted for the day.
If the charge hits, it is counted as a threatened critical and also treated as if the totem warrior was using a vorpal weapon. If the threatened critical is confirmed, the charged opponent loses their head. If the threat is not confirmed, the charge attack adds one additional damage for every two levels of totem warrior.
Bonus Feats: Bonus feats available: Bloody Strike, Combat Reflexes, Defensive Move (Mobility), Exotic Armor Proficiency, Exotic Weapon Proficiency*, Expertise (Defensive Move, Defensive Stance, Improved Disarm, Improved Trip, Whirlwind Attack), Improved Critical*, Improved Initiative, Point Blank Shot (Far Shot, Precise Shot, Shot on the Run), Power Attack (Cleave, Improved Bull Rush, Improved Cleave, Sunder), Quick Draw, Stunning Blow, Sturdy, Tough Hide, Track, Two-Weapon Fighting (Improved Two-Weapon Fighting), Weapon Finesse*, Weapon Focus*, Weapon Specialization*.
Totem Animal Companion: At 3rd level, the totem warrior gains a special animal companion imbued with the direct manifestation of the totem she reveres. The animal appears first in a dream, thenif the totem warrior is in or near its natural habitatshe wakes to find it waiting for her.
If the character does not treat the animal wellas a companion, not a slavethe animal leaves. The animals loyalty is natural (not magical) and lasting.
The character can teach the totem animal three specific and even fairly complex tricks or tasks for each point of intelligence it possesses. Examples include fetching an item or carrying a message.
From 3rd level on, the animal gains a Hit Die with each class level the character advances, along with all the subsequent benefits that entailsbetter saves, attack bonus, and so on. Further for every four levels it advances, the animal may raise one ability score by 1 point and increase its Intelligence score by 1.
If the animal dies, a new animal will come to the totem warrior in 1d10+10 days, if the warrior spends that time in the animals natural environment. The new animal has the stats of the animal that died, and it continues gaining Hit Dice as the character gains levels.
Totem Animal Bond (Su): The 87th-level and higher totem warrior enjoys an empathic bond with her totem animal companion as long as they are within one mile of each other. The warrior knows the animals general condition and well-being and can understand basic, emotional messages from it: Danger, safety, food, or water. The totem warrior can send similar mental messages or information to the animal as well.
Further, the totem warrior gains an empathic rapport with all animals of the creatures general type:
Rabbit : All small mammals
This rapport allows the warrior to stop an animal of the appropriate type from attacking him by making a Handle Animal check (DC 10 + the animals HD + animals Charisma modifier). If the animal is not hostile, he can make a similar check to gain some very general information from it about the surroundings.
Totem Spirit Companion (Su): The 9th level totem warrior and beyond can speak directly with the spirit of his totem once per day, asking a yes or no question. The totem spirit is not omniscient. It knows all observable facts about the present.
Totem Animal Speech (Su): Beginning at 11th level, the totem warrior can speak to and understand his totem animal companion and all animals of its general type (see previous table).
This thread is for you to discuss the avatar change (Do you think I'm a traitor?) and if you're one of the two people on 3ebb who has the AU book, comments on the class wouldn't hurt either.
Mad props to Jackelope for fixing this avatar up for me. He "r0x0rz photoshop".
