Okay, I get made fun of for this, so I have to find out if I'm truly a goober. All my friends have dice sets that are a random cross-section of colours and styles. I buy all mine to be matching pink and purple. I can't use a die that doesn't match! Am I the only colour coordination conscious dice roller? =)

You are probably not the only one with that particular idiosyncracy....but those of us who have mult-colored multi-style dice are usually the one's who have a tendancy to lose such things. Or perhaps have pets that eat them. Either way...I never seem to have a full set in any one color or style.

Yep, I use black and transparent smoke coloured dice. Guess I forgot one important thing when I bought them, though: Drop black dice on a dark carpet in a not so well lit room, and you've made yourself some real good caltrop...

I'm that way as well. I don't like playing with mis-matched dice. In fact, the dice I have now is a cool pink color, with one of the ten sided dice being a light green to match. They glow in the dark. However, I have no idea when I'll even *play* D&D again, let alone playing D&D in the dark.....

They glow so you do not step on the caltrops.. Uhh, dice.
Sincerity is the Key. Once you can fake that, you have it made.

But personally, I try to get the matching sets (find and seperate from collection) just to help tell mine appart from the other players and the DM's.

I personally try to get matching colors. but of course sometimes I just come across a die that I find so cool looking I just thought I have to own it. This habit kinda made my dice collection rather varied. Not because I deliberately look for different color dice or anything, it just happens that I find a lotta cool lookin' dice... well, at least, I think their cool lookin'.

I have three main sets of dice at this time. One is green, another is purple, and the third is white. They all have sparkly kind of things inside. I would like to buy some stone dice but I have no idea on where to get them (I live in Finland by the way).

None of my dice match but I do have to still full sets. They were originally 4 TSR adventure dice sets. 4-sided green, 6-sided red, 8-sided blue, 10-sided black, % black with red numbers, 12-sided purple, 20-sided orange, all except % had white numbers. I lost a d10, traded 2 d20's for darker orane and black lettered d20's, and 2 d6's for traditional, white with black dots d6's. Oh and I have the free Crystal Caste d6 that came with a Dragon magazine.

I have no real preference for color. I have a lot of black d10's cause I used to play White Wolf stuff in the early 90's. I then invested in a few other dice (d4 and up) for Deadlands play. My friends and I like to call Deadlands "The game that brought multiple dice back."
I did recently discover that one of my 3 d20s, the gold sparkley one, rolls higher than the rest. My black and purple ones average 10.3 in 50 rolls while my gold one averages 13.1 in 50 rolls. Man, am I a dork or what. I did this scientific testing 'cause some players complained that the gold d20 rolled higher than normal. I used it as the official baddy die. Turns out my players were right. When the age of the vikings came to a close, they must of sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said: "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey

I have to have purple dice. And a matching dice bag. And a pencil that is also purple. Plus a purple calculator. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the perfect purple bag to carry all my lovely purple pieces, but the quest continues. It is very important to color coordinate your D&D materials - then they will behave the way you want them to.

Hey, that's funny! I too have a matching dice box (Pink and purple flowers) a purple clipboard, pencil, and calculator. If I'm truly insane, at least I'm not alone!

I use one set of dice, and they are all tranclucent, smoky white with black numbers. Everyone in our group also has matching dice, except the DM who has a mismached set.

Re: Dice fashion | ||

hehe, sorry there mega =P
but anyway, what about dice karma? you guys get into that too? out of all my dice, I have three that I ALWAYS use for say attack rolls since they always roll high. Then there are my mercy dice which I use when I GMing. For some odd reason, those always get low rolls. On the flip side, I also got my evil GM black dragon die, which has a good tendency to roll 20s for me. Gotta love the black dragon die. (actually, it's just black with red numbers...) also, I have this set of d6s I use for my greatsword damage roll. I sense my karma echoing with the dice!!!,... er... yeah, that's right... dice karma... that's exactly what it is.... I think... er.... |

I have alot of random chaotic dice, some with the ivory swirls, some transparent, some solid, and even like rebecca's glow in the dark only thing I require is that they look cool, I cannot stand using ugly dice.

Heheh....
No need to apologise to me Elliott20; Jim's the guy for that ; he's running this place Anyway: I've got a matching set of black "marble-coloured" dice (with four d6's), which is about the only stuff , that matches. The rest of the dice and stuff is a rag-tag collection of sorts , kept in an old coffeebag , which I plan to replace for a selfmade leather beltpouch. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreetsels,

I like to use matching dice, but I won't throw a fit if they don't match.
The best caltrops are 4 sided dice. Ouch. Especially if you're insane enough to sharpen em. Haha. ------------
