Standard TSR stuff, PHB races. I do not have FR and some other books so I probably have a lower total than possible. Oh, a finnal rule: HP must be long-term: wishes(or other inherent bounuses) are ok, amulet of health is ok, rage is not ok, potion of endurance is not ok. Paid for by the Coalition to Fight Drinking Glasses that are Twice as Big as they Shoud Be.

Cadet Hulk...I've no idea if this will be anywhere near correct, on account of the fact that there's so very many variables that can lie between 1st and 20th. But here's a stab at it: Dwarven Barbarian 1 Toughness at 1st Barb 2 / Fighter 1 Dwarf's Toughness at 3rd Barb 4 / Fgtr 1 / Rngr 1 Giant's Toughness at 6th Barb 6 / Fgtr 1 / Rngr 1 / SPrCWGFS&D10* 1 Dragon's Toughness at 9th Barb 17 / Fgtr 1 / Rngr 1 / SPrCWGFS&D10* 1 Dragon's Toughness at 12th, 15th, 18th Assume a 20 con at 1st, +5 (ability score boosts) and +5 (wishes) = 30 Con + 6 (Amulet of Health) = 36 Con 17D12 + 3D10 = 234 + 13 (Con bonus) * 20 = 494 Add Toughnesses (3, 6, 9, 12, 12, 12, 12) = 66 560 hps (+60 when raging) *Some Prestige Class With Good Fortitude Saves And D10 Hit Points. There's quite a few possible here so there should be at least one that doesn't need any feats, or at least a maximum of two (toughness and some fighter feat). "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Descipher script is an EXCLUSIVE skill. You need to be a 4th level rogue to have 7 ranks in it. You need to be a 5th level wizard to cast 3rd level spells. Get it right.

If I recall aright, once you have taken a class for which a skill is exclusive, it's on your skill list (even if you have to spend cross-class points to advance it). And if I do err in this (as I may well have), then 'tis no need to be snippy about it. "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Each time you level up, you gain skill points for use with that level. If decipher script is exclusive(and it is), and you gain a level of wizard, you may gain no ranks of decipher script this level. Skills that are cross classed for the level of wizard(like intimidate) must be bought at the cross class rate(with restrictions to max intact, etc.)...so therefore...PM is right

I came up with 548 with a straight barbarian, not thinking to get fighter and ranger levels for the fort saves. Good job. Don't know if the lost feat-slots for the pre-requisite feats and the missing amulet can be made up for with the net, permanent +10 to Con. And Ivar, even if that is true, does it also mean that Exclusive Skills keep their own separate track of what your max skill ranks are allowed to be? If it does, then PM is dead right. However, if it does not, then it would still be possible to take 1 level of Rogue, 5 of Wizard, and then 2 others of Rogue, catching up the missing levels of Decipher Script in the process. For that matter, I may have to double back and rework this whole dang concept, seeing if it would be possible to, even still, pull it off in 7 levels by putting the Rogue level off until 4th (so as to have a legal 7 ranks in Decipher, all at once). "Whadda ya mean, Orcs get levels too?!?"

Exclusive skills use only the classes for which it is a class skill for -everything-. Max skill ranks included. Posts: 254 (04/02/02 16:53:54) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	In regards to taking arcane trickster at 8th level - yes, exclusive skills do not count in regards to max ranks, so the rogue 1/wizard 5/assasin 1 character would have a max rank of 5 in decipher script. They could still reach arcane trickster at 8th however by taking skill focus (decipher script) at 1st level. This would give them 7 ranks if they maxed out DS at 1st rogue, took skill focus and added another rank from assasin. EDIT Sorry - skill focus does not add additional ranks, but rather provides a bonus to the use of the skill - ie. it cannot be used to gain prerequisites for prestige classes more quickly.
