A note: I am biased, I hate druids with a passion, I go out of my way to kill them during play. That aside;
Why do people play them? I'm asking opinions from a RPing perspective.
Why would you want to play a tree-hugger?
Why would anyone (a player in our world, not some imaginary elf boy wanting to protect nature in an imaginary world) want to be that much in harmony with nature?
What's about druid (in flavor) that makes someone want to play one?
I know they are powerhouses. I know shapechanging into a bear to tear enemies apart might feel good. I know they have some cool abilities. I know they are mechanically superior to other classes, on par with the cleric. Don't include these as reasons to play druids.
