I was just curious how many DM's out there just give a fixed amount of EXP, or instead of basing it off "encounters" figure it out other ways? When I award EXP, I look at how much EXP the players need to level. If they are at a level that needs 8,000 EXP, then I will give out 1,250 per session so that they level up in apprx 7 sessions. Anyone else try anything like this? I just find that a lot of times, encounters dont turn up as easy/ difficult as you planned for, and there are so many little things you can award exp for, I just say screw it save time and give out fixed EXP.
