Hey looks like I'm monopolizing the forum... hmmm... anyway, I created some templates to make development of NPCs/ Organizations/ Towns/ Kingdoms/ Regions a lot easier. Take a look and tell me what you think (if I forgot anything!) and feel free to use these yourselves as a quick way to flesh out your world!
Templates
NPC:
1. Identity: (name, race, class, etc.)
2. Stats: (skills ranks, ability scores, combat info if necessary)
3. Role: (role NPC plays in world and campaign)
4. Personal Goals: (personal goals and ambitions)
5. Personality: (behavior, demeanor, alignment, quirks)
6. History: (overview of NPCs life history)
7. Current Life: (family, career, home, etc.)
Organization:
1. Mission: (mission statement and goals of organization)
2. Membership: (who the members are and how membership is granted)
3. NPCs: (important NPCs in the organization)
4. Income: (how the organization gets the money to support itself)
5. Influence: (how much money and political power the organization has)
6. Traditions: (traditions, ceremonies, holidays)
7. Location: (where the organization is located and where it meets)
8. Benefits: (benefits of membership like special access to special items etc.)
Towns and Kingdoms:
1. Population: (how many people, what races and classes they are)
2. History: (timeline of important historical events)
3. Geography: (important roads, locations, landmarks)
4. Culture: (music, art, traditions, architecture, wonders, holidays)
5. Economy: (resources, wealth, trade practices, trade partners)
6. Military: (unit makeup, role of military in society, military purpose)
7. Politics: (political system, intrigues, and those in power)
8. Magic: (role that magic plays in society, how common it is, etc.)
9. NPC: (important and well known NPCs)
10. Names: (random names that might be used for people, taverns, etc.)
Uncivilized Regions:
