You see, my players are all pretty much beginners, or haven't had much experience with the roleplaying part of the game. Personally I like the roleplaying aspect a lot, and I've been trying to think up a reputation system that could help with it and perhaps influence or inspire them to roleplay more.
This is what I thought up: there are 4 types of reputation gained - Political, Underground, Popular and Class. Political has to do with dealings with other kingdoms or countries; Underground has to do with secret groups/societies/kingdoms not recognized by the majority of other political powers/ anyone that operates under the radar of most everyone else; Popular involves people in general; and Class has to do with the attitude of different social classes towards the party. Class is seperated into 3 subgroups - Lower Class, Middle Class and Nobles.
The reputation in the party for all these various categories will be kept in a numeric system starting at 0. Generally getting on the badside of whatever group results in a negative score, while making friends and doing good results in a positive score. Concerning political, however, a positive score would mean you're liked by good nations, and disliked by corrupt ones; while a negative score would mean just the opposite.
I thought this might be a good way to get people more into the roleplaying aspect of the game, as various groups respond to them in different ways. I think it's a good idea, I could be wrong though. Has anyone else done a system like this? And, if so, was it better (I'm sure it was) and how did you set it up?
