Just some advise: being too grand right at the beginning can cause burnout! The most satisfying campaigns/ adventures I've had are ones where the players start off weak and in a small, isolated part of the world. It helps me keep organized, and gives the players somethign to look forward too as they become strong enough to travel the world. That said, if you want an easy way to build worlds, I will let you in on a template I made that can be used for making Cities, Kingdoms, and yes, Worlds.
1. Population: (size and demographics like what percent is what race, how the races interact which each other)
2. History: (major historical events, timeline, of world)
3. Geography: (important locations, roads, interesting features)
4. Culture: (traditions, architecture style, 'great wonders', style of art, music that is popular, food, etc.)
5. Economy: (how strong the economy is, who it benefits, what the major resources of the world is, who their trade partners are)
6. Military: (what the military looks like, how it operates, how strong it is, what its purpose in the world is)
7. Politics: (Political system, political dynamics and intrigues, what organizations hold power in the world)
8. Magic: (role that magic plays in the society, who wields it, how common is it)
9. Names: (randomly list off some names of Taverns, castles, NPCs etc. that would be used in that region so if your PCs have a random encounter there, you can pull something out of your ass!)

The 'ideas' I put in paranthesis are just some ideas to get your brain jogging. There are certainly more aspects you can use. I usually write 2-3 paragraphs for each topic just to give me an idea. When I need more information for the players for an adventure, then I just refer back to the original text and 'flesh out' more information.

ALSO, that's my general guidline for making KINGDOMS not WORLDS. SO, I would recommend only having 1, 2 or rarely 3 different 'kingdoms' within each world. I would treat each world as its own kingdom you know, unless theres like a Civil war there. That will keep it much simpler, easier, less time for you, and easier for the player to remember whats going on where. If you do MULTIPLE kingdoms in each world, then you might as well just have 1 world!
