The reason I say this is chiefly due to the "mastery of elements power" which allows the Archmage to change the damage type of any elemental damage spell to any other element at the time the spell is cast. There's no spell level adjustment and you don't have to choose ahead of time what element you want type of damage to use. The rest of the Archmage abilites are nothing to scoff at either.
Have I got the wrong idea about this class? Is it a reasonably balanced choice?
Many monsters are hard to fight because they have energy resistances / immunities. Does the ability to completely bypass a major defensive ability of these monsters strike anyone as being particularly powerful? Remember, we're talking only core rules here and this including fighting just monsters from MMI.
