In the D&D game I'm playing, our players have come to a specific point in the campaign where the characters took a break before heaidng off for our next adventure hook.
There's some chance I might get to playing a Scout character instead of the half-elf sorceress I was in the skin of, Marylain.
I'll list her stats to give you people some insight in her:

Okay, so, what do I want here exactly in posting Marylain up here? Damn good quetion, I'll get right to it.
Marylain herself has been a wonderful character to play. I've... rarely been so satisfied in playing a D&D character. I've worked to have her be an integral part of a team, though she has enough abilities to be self-reliant. Her own spell selection favors charms, illusions, some support spells and some other magic tricks which just happen to... break things.
She's shown herself to be vain, adorable, somewhat sly and utterly irrepressible. She always has some opinion to say, an answer to a problem, even if it might end up being a silly idea - she speaks her mind and takes the initiative. Her main motivations for adventuring is being praised by her travelling companions (she's a bit of a show off and loves being told when she does good) and... earning tons of gold (though her actual intent with that gold is sort of vague. Swim in it?).
Bugbear : "I yield! I yield! You no kill me!"
Cassandra the Paladin : "Tell us where your leader is!"
Bugbear : "Me never tell!!"
Cassandra : "..."
Aramil the cleric : "Well, do we have to kill it?"
Marylain : "Don't think so." *mumbles a charm and hands the bugbear a sugar-glazed cookie* "Sorry about the rough treatment. My friends just really want to meet your boss."
Bugbear : "Uh huh *crunch* *munch*"
Marylain : "Can you lead us to him?"
Bugbear : "Not sure. Boss no like vi-vi-"
Marylain : "Visitors?"
Bugbear : "Ya. *crunch* Dat."
Marylain : "Well..." *shows pack* "After you lead us here, want to taste my new gingerbread cookies?"
Bugbear : "...Ya. Third floor, second door to right... Come."
And woe if someone makes her upset : She might not cook. ^_^;;
...okay, now that I've given insight in her and that I already love her to bits, here's the problem... Marylain acts like a 14 year old girl. She's an adult, but not quite mature and I need her to undergo some growth... or just make place for another character. She's... static and evolved little so far. Only real difference between now and before is the number of fireball she lobs, really ~_~ Half-elves don't age that fast, I know, but then again, I still need to show some amount of progress with her.
I need some insight, anything really, on a way to make her character progress. Yes, some of my problem is based on a roleplaying issue. Another is based on her actual sorcerous heritage : she draws her latent magical abilities from her great grandmother, a nixie.
I need some way to make her look like a powerful sorceress in her own right, not like some junior high airheaded girl. this goes both in the way of dealing with her own fey heritage and also her own coming to age.
does anyone whom had the patience to read up to this point have any idea? I've run dry T_T Please, the scary little half-elf witch beseech thee. I need roleplaying tips for her as well asinput on what spells and abilties I should push on for her later levels.
