Best solo class? |
Lead | |
|
My DM has finally allowed spellcasters, but he wants to run a campaign with just me, so now I would like some tips for the Best first level, standard point-buy, only races out of the Phb and Eberron book available, NO templates, NO level adjustments.
Thanks in advance |

Has everyone forgotten that monks can heal themselves with Wholeness of Body at 7th level? Let's face it guys, there is no class that's going to have an easy time of it for the first few levels even with spontaneous healing.

The advantage clerics have over druids is armor class. Druids can retreat easier, but while retreating lets you live, it can allow the bad guy to accomplish whatever it is you were trying to stop. Clerics are able to hang in there a little bit longer which can make all the difference. A cleric can cast Sanctuary as an escape plan and/or with Trickery domain have Invisibility and Mislead at the higher levels.
Also, no matter how many times DMs complain of "arrogant" players who won't have the party retreat, sometimes retreating is not an option because if you fail, game over, figuratively and literally speaking. |

Let's face it, as a solo class, cleric is the roxxors. You can tailor a cleric to do just about anything passably. Picking domains and spells carefully allows you to pretty much cover any facet of typical dungeoneering, political rp, espionage, warfighting etc. And as JK mentioned any holes in your build can easily be fixed by taking leadership at 6th level and taking a cohort to finesse any weakspots.
This is coming from someone who absolutely detests playing a cleric. But if I'm ever in a one-on-one campaign, you can be sure I'll be playing a cleric. |
