I'm just posting here to see if anyone might be interested in a Dragonstar campaign, run in 3E rules. Any takers?

Re: Dragonstar | ||

For those who do not know what Dragonstar is, here's an explanation. Dragonstar is a setting published by Fantasy Flight Games. Essentially, it's D&D in space at it's most basic. This is the description from FFG's website:
The Galaxy ...an ocean of stars stretching across the vastness of space, home to great civilizations built on the twin pillars of magic and science. The Great War ...a titanic conflict that raged across the stars and devoured worlds whole as untold legions of dragons battled for supremacy. The Ancient Pact ...a truce forged of hope and desperation, giving birth to an empire ruled in a line of succession by the most powerful elders of the dragon clans. The New Emperor ...the great red wyrm assumes the Golden Throne after five millennia of peace. The Future ...a dark and unknown horizon, as unrest grows on a million worlds and countless races suffer under the tyrannical rule of the new emperor. Any information needed by players who don't have the Starfarer's Handbook, I will provide. This includes class descriptions and other such things. Anything from Malhavoc Press is possible to be included in the setting, and the magic system will be a compromise between AU and D&D standard. |

Re: Dragonstar | ||

The rules are based on 3rd edition, not 3.5. I will consider things on a case-by-case basis from 3.5, but don't bother floating the sorcerers up. They don't work that way, as they don't have fixed 'spells known'.
The magic system is currently under development (Essentially defining concepts. I am NOT converting every spell in the PHB.) and is basically defined, although not fully documented. |

1st level character, no ECL. Savage Species is not open for consideration at the moment. As for stats, I want you to go to irony.com and use their on-web roller to do your stats. Send a copy of the rolls to moonsword22@hotmail.com and create your character off of 4d6. It'll automatically drop the lowest roll. If you use a ranger, use the one in the Starfarer's Handbook.

Questions | ||
|
I am running a Dragonstar campaign and have most of the books. However my group have trouble getting together and I would like to run a character but nobody I know runs dragonstar in the local community. I though playing in a post in post game would be ideal for me. However I don't the rules or how this would work. I would like to try your campaign, but if you want only experience players for this I understand

Re: Questions | ||

Believe me, that's not a problem. Read the PbP 101 thread above. That'll lay out the basics. The really complicated side is the GM's, as you get to do *all* the rolls. It does make laying out scenes easier, though.

Never mind what I posted earlier. Uh, bump that 6 to an 8 or reroll if you choose.

Yep sure did I used the e-mail you posted earlier, did it get through?

7th roll | ||

The random generator rolled 7 numbers, what will the 7th will be used for.

Re: 7th roll | ||

Oh, yeah. Drop the lowest roll. I didn't look closely enough at the number of rolls and it has been a long time since I posted that information.
If you want to use anything from Malhavoc, just run it past me first. I'm hybridizing the magic system to include AU. |

Re: 7th roll | ||

*raises eyebrow* I wouldn't play it, personally, but then again, I don't play half-orcs or monks, so that's why. Go ahead.

class & race | ||

If you don't feel comfortable about it thats all right, I just threw it out real quick. I could do a paladin or an 1/2 elf wizard. Although in the earlier post you raised some questions of magic?

Re: class & race | ||

Play a hlaf-orc monk if you want. That was only a personal observation on what I'd play, not a GM commenting on a choice.
I'm still figuring out what precisely the magic system will be like. The basic change is this: spellcasters ready spells from a set list. To keep the classes balanced, their spells readied will vary. Sorcerers and bards ready their original spells known (which is affected by ability scores) and wizards ready twice their spells per day. Clerics ready their spells per day (they are not mages), as do rangers and paladins. Clerics, sorcerers, wizards, and bards gain access to all simple spells, and wizards also get access to complex spells. All spell lists except those of the sorcerers and wizards are basically unchanged and considered 'simple' spells for them, they just have some new options. The arcane list is nearly identical, but there are some differences as these are where the biggest overlaps from AU occur. The arcane list will be posted as the party gets access to new spells, broken down into simple, complex, and exotic spells. |

Re: class & race | ||

Actually I would like to try to run a wizard. I have been fascinated by what they did to them in the DragonStar universe. Do you wish me to roll up that character and send it to your e-mail.

Re: class & race | ||

*shakes head* Post it here. I would note that I have yet to get anyone else to actually start this process, so we're going to waiting for players.
Don't worry about the spellbook program costs, and I'll ahve a complete 0th and 1st-level wizard spell list up by this evening. |

questions and Character | ||

I got the character made up; although I have some questions about finishing it. Do you all the characters the Technical proficiency feat for free like the book suggest(if not I will have to remove the improve initiate feat he has)? Do you wish me to use the dice generator at irony games for hit points and starting money?
Character Name: Wencit DeVries Race: 1/2 elf Class: Wizard Alignment: L/N 1st level sex: male Age: 40 Height: 120lbs Eyes: BlueGreen Hair:light auburn Base Speed: 30 X.P: 0 A.C. 11 (base 10 1dex) Initiative: 5 ( 1 dex, 4 improve int feat) H.D.:d4 ST: 9 (-1) DEX:13 ( 1) CON:16 ( 3) INT: 17 ( 3) WIS: 11 CHA: 11 Saving Throws: Fortitude: 3, Reflex : 1, Will: 2 Attack Bonus: Melee -1 Ranged 1 Skills: Concentration: 2 Decipher Script: 3 Knowledge(arcana) 2 Knowledge(Empire)2 Listen: 1 Research: 2 Spell-craft: 3 Spot:2 Feats: Scribe Scroll, Technical Prof, Improve Init Languages: Common, Elf Racial Abilities: 2 Diplomacy & Gathering Information, 1 Listen, Search, Spot, Low light vision, 2 saving throw to enchantment spells, Immunity to sleep spells, 2 to freefall Brief history and Backround: Born on the core worlds Wencit had some scholar training (empire history). But with his study of wizardy and the increasing difficulty of the bureaucracy of the new emperor rules and restrictions has force him to find answers elsewhere to improve his studies and magic.(This is subject to change and editing on the D.M. and Players desecration. P.s. I am going to those roles with irony games to get a head start. Let me know if you want to change it. |

It looks fine. I'm assigning equipment, but spellbook memory is considerably cheaper.
