Hmm.. well you see I can't really give off more information than that. You will discover the world I created by living in it. Discovering my world is all part of the thrill considering that it is quite... special.

I can tell you it has weapons, you can also die, gain levels, I use dice but I reward player creativity.

Players used to pay a monthly fee to play this very RPG. As it used to be commercial, it has, I think, a good quality to it. I've decided to put it for free as it's less time consuming. I think most players would enjoy this one. I think this pretty much gives you an idea of how detailed it is.

Ok, I'll give you an idea as to how the setting is like. Think 28 days meets dawn of the dead meets fallout. But not quite...

I really can't give out more information though, except maybe that mutations and mutants are involved.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I don't want to give out too much information though... You'll understand why when you play the game.
Ok, I suppose I could give out a bit more information.

*Your character will evolve and travel in a world completely created and out of my mind.

*Dice will be used, your character can die.

*Player may develop mutations due to radiations.

*There is no magic, but there is something similar to magic...

*You will have to find food, shelter, weapon, ammo and water to survive.

*About 9 or 10% of Earth's population is still alive. Most have grown mad.

*Your character can contract diseases, become radiated (which isn't always a bad thing)

*The timing is set in a near future.

*Wide collection of skills.

*The locations are mapped and detailed.

*I'm not big on 5 paragraphs long replies. I expect players to post daily and be precise and clear in their replies. I enjoy roleplay as long as it's not overboard.

*There will be a board of high scores where I will rank the best players.

Ok, now this shoud give you a better idea as to how this is all about.

HOW CAN I PLAY?

Please message me if you are interested in playing. Only one player will play at a time. Others will be able to read the consequences of his/her action throughout the game. Once the player dies, it will be the next one to join in.

HOW DO I SCORE POINTS?

Your score is expressed in ACCOMPLISHMENT POINTS or AP. The more difficult the task, the more AP you'll gain. All ot the AP are written in my scenario and it's up to the player to gather as much AP as they can.

APs can also be used to improve your character's skills and attributes so it has more chances of survival in the game.

BUT HOW DOES IT ACTUALLY PLAY?

Ok, those familiar with D&D (dungeon and dragon) should have no problem at all playing this game. I will provide an example here as to how it's played, just so you get a better idea:

EXAMPLE OF A GAME:

I (Etienne) begin the game by scripting out the first scene:

You wake up in a dimly lit room. The room is made out of concrete and it's size is about 4mx4m. You don't really remember why you're here, in close confinment but you've just been waken up by a loud banging sound coming from the only exit of the room, on the North wall. Someone or something seems to be trying to get inside, and by the sound of it, it doesn't seem to friendly. The metal door seems to be holding up, but for how long?

Apart from a rustic bed, in the Southwest corner of the room, the room seems to be empty.

What do you do?

It is now the player's turn to act. The player explains to me what he does, the summary of his action has to be the equivalent of about 10 minutes of game time maximum. I'm very open minded on this one thoug has game time is very subjective.

Here's an example of how the reply of the player could be:

I inspect the room carefully, looking for anything that might help me out to defend myself from what is trying to get inside.

This was the player's first reply. As he/she has only told me he inspects the room carefully, I assume he does that for a good ten minutes. Considering the size of the room, a 10 minutes inspection is very thourough. I have written, in my scenario that a metallic box is hidden under the bed. I consider, as the storyteller, that he discovers the box under the bed. So I reply again, in this very same thread:

TURN 2:

You manage to find a metallic box underneath the bed. The door, although made of metal, seems on the brink of destruction.

What do you do?

And so it is the player's turn to act once again. And so on and so forth... The story will slowly unfold as the player discover what I have in store for him.

What is going on behind the scene, how does it actually work? How do you make your decision as to what happens?

Good questions all of them. Behind the whole story is a complex set of rules I have written. I as the story teller, explains how the environment I have set out for the player interacts with his/her actions. I reserve myself the right to adjust the game wether it is too hard or too easy.

Both creativity and luck will decide of the player's destiny. The use of a skill, or a combat scene depends on luck, which depends on the roll of dices in order to decide what is going to happen.

Let's continue with our example so you can understand as to how the mechanics work.

EXAMPLE (continued)

PLAYER, TURN 2:

I open the box, looking for anything that could be remotely be used as a weapon.

ST (STORY TELLER) TURN 3:

The banging continues furiously outside.

The box opens without resistance. Inside you find the following:

*Survival rations (enough for 1 week)
*A compass
*Lighter
*Army knife
*A 8mm Beretta pistol
*8mm ammo clips (3 clips of 8 bullets each)
*Pair of trekking boots
*Pen and some sheets of paper
*Radio
*Car keys

P (player) TURN 3:

I PICK UP the Beretta and LOAD it with in an ammo clip. I point the gun at the door and wait for it to open. If whatever comes in is hostile, I will open fire.

ST TURN 4:

Soon after you pick up the gun, the door comes crashing down on the cement floor. In a cloud of dust, you manage to perceive something that doesn't look quite human. You judge that it seems hostile and open fire!

Considering the fact that the target is at short range, you manage to hit him numerous time, about 6 or 7 times maybe. The creature falls on on it's back, apparently dead.

For vainquishig this creature, you win 50 AP!

Ok, so the player won this battle.

What did actually happen behind the scenes?

The whole combat process is written in my set of rules. I won't dorwn you with details, but it involves dice rolls to determine what actually happens.

In our example, the player doesn't KNOW that he actually missed the zombie 3 times and fired 6 bullets. He would have to verify his clip to find that out. Only I know that. He doesn't KNOW either that each shot from the Beretta did x damage to the zombie who ahd a certain amount of Health Points before he could go down. This is all determined by me and luck and the player's decision.

How do I improve my character?

Whenever you reach 100 APs, you will have the opportunity to improve. Your skills will also improve as you use them.

In other words, reaching 100 APs will grant you a level. I will ask you a certain number of questions, and the answer to those will determine how your character is modified.

How about my inventory?

This is the only thing that you are constantly in charge of. Depending of wether or not you have a backpack, you can usually carry about 10 SLOTS worth of equipment.

Slots is the unit used to calculate how much you can carry. A baseball bat would use up one SLOT whereas 5 clips of Ammo would use slot. It all depends on the size. You will be informed as to how many slots you've got left.

Common action words...

In case you are unsure of what to say. Just use your imagination and think, "What would I do If I was in the same situation?"

Use common words like Taking things, Wearing clothes and armor, Using objects on other objects, Observing, Opening, Eating, Resting...

Etc.. there's not limit to what you can do..

What should I expect from the Beginning of the End...

There is a whole story written by me in which the player will play an active role.

The Earth in my adventure is nightmarish, think the Dawn of the Dead mixed with 28 days. Players won't have to resort to violence to solve most situations, but it might come to it. They will have to find food, modes of transportations, cooperate with other survivors, barter and trade with travelling marchants.

Although the world will evolve around them, I like to keep the game very open minded. A player might decide that what he wants is to find some remote island where he will live at peace. He can call his GAME OVER and join the board of high scores. The main objective of any player would be to mainly survive.

Survivungng will involve many things, including finding shelter, food, water, some place to sleep without being attacked, friends. A player has to know when to run and hide and when to fight. He is after all a simple civilian, not a superhero (well not yet anyway hehehe).
