Qayan will search the area for anything of value or significance [Search +8] after confirming that Khasar is unharmed. Accepting the scroll from Salvistin, the tiefling nods, and then moves silently with the group back to the temple.

Having finished help reassemble Gron'rindul, Khasar will turn to Qayan. "My thanks for being swift about getting that scroll. I do not know how much longer I could have controled my self."

Zanas walks over to the other, unexplored tunnel.
"What of this? Could something be down here?" |

"I think our first order of buisness should be getting Gron'rindul back to his order. After we do that we can come back down and explore." Khasar states

To Khasar, then turning to Zanas: Of course, my friend. I respect and admire your restraint in this matter. I dare say it may have demonstrated more strength of resolve than battling the guardian ever could. I agree our priority now is the restoration of our comrade. All other matters are secondary. Let us make haste.

With that, you return once again to the surface. The odd chest stumps after you on short legs until, upon reaching the surface, it relents to your advice in the matter and consents to being carried to avoid drawing attention.
Gron'rindul's remains are gathered in the temple, and the high priests question Serin at length about the matter, informing you all that they will issue the calling that evening. Once again, you are shown to the guest chamber. |

A few hours pass, and Seren returns. He seems decidedly downcast. "I have come to inform you that Gron'rindul Ranthunach shall remain in the halls of his ancestors. He has chosen not to respond to the call, and shall be interred in this temple with all honors."

"Wow. Seems somewhat odd for someone like him to do that." Zanas lays down on the bed.
"Ah, I'm sure he has a good reason." She looks about the room. "So, what now?" |

Somewhat lost at the loss of his comrade Khasar stares at the floor for a moment before raising his head upwards. "Tempus watch over Gron'rindul as he makes his way the halls of his ancestors." he whispers to the air.

Valarion falls silent for a a few moments upon hearing the news. He lets out a long sigh afterwards, and speaks up. "For someone with great faith and determination, he has surely gone to a better place. He died serving what he believed in, and his ancestor and his god would be proud to have him amonst other honorable souls on their heavenly plane."
Pondering the situation, he breathes deeply as he stands up. "Had Gron'rindul wished to return to us, I would contiune to help him in his persuit of the illithids; however, his soul must have realized that his work here is done. Raven's Buff is now purged of this evil, thus I believe our involvement in his task has come to an end as well. I still have some matters to attain to in Raven's Buff, but shortly I shall depart for Harrowdale... if any of you would wish to accompany me, you have my sincere welcome. Otherwise, we might not be seeing each other for quite some times... friends." |

The tieflings face contorts to anger at the bad news almost immediately then regaining composure.
. o O (Double damn! Ive no reason to doubt the priests motives, but they may simply lack the capacity to restore Gron to the world of the living or they may be bound by some dogma that prevents it. No. At least this Seren fellow seems genuinely saddened that Gron has not been restored. Hmm. I will have to contact Gron myself in the near future to get the clear truth. It seems inconceivable that he would choose to leave this grave task yet undone.) Qayan turns to the group. Weve several tasks to complete, and several options open to us. I would like to finish exploring the Gate, but after that I have few long-range plans. Valarion, I will join you if you would have me. I thirst for adventure. And this last endeavor has been a bitter brew. I would slake it with a draught of something fresh. Then, nodding and bowing in respect to Seren, Qayan takes the dwarf aside and speaks. Weve recently come across another guardian of sorts. But instead of banishment, this one may serve willingly. Pointing to the mimic, the tiefling continues. This chest is actually a clever beast that can change its form to resemble nearly anything. Our recent expedition and subsequent purging of the evils surrounding the Gate of Sarbreen have displaced it. I know that your temple likely has wealth and power that needs protection and stewardship. I would highly recommend this guardian for your consideration. It is strong and able and it would work for well regular meals. The tiefling smiles disarmingly. |

"I...recall," Serin eyes the chest nervously, remembering it's role in the original plan against the Ghirrash. "I'll ask if any of the Elders would want to take it in."

Khasar is too caught up in his grief over Gron'rinduls rejection of the ressurection to realise that Qayan is giving away the creature Khasar so wanted to help him guard his horde.

Valarion frowns, "Further exploration of the gate? That would be unnecessary risks for no plausible gains. Should Gron'rindul still be with us, we would be performing a deed with a purpose, but now to transpass an ancient dwarven sacred ground without a good reason will certainly bring unwanted discomfort. Have you anything in mind as to why you wish to pursuit this?"
