Zanas examines the cured hides, bone pen, and the reddish substance with great intrest. Once Khasar has unrolled the tapestries, she looks at it, then turns to the small chest by the pool, examining it for any traps, and then picking the lock and examining the contents.

The bone "pen" appears to have not one, but four nubs...all layed out in a single line, with each nub retractable by a set of carefully-carved levers towards the base. It looks like a rather difficult instrument to master. The reddish substance has an awful smell to it, and while inspecting the pen, a small drop fell onto Zanas' arm, instantly raising an extremely painful blister.
The tapestries appear similar...both of Dwarven make, and both depicting portions of a large underground realm. They seem to be of fine make, if old and worn, and may well have some value to it. The statue seems unremarkable...fairly well made but not extraordinarially so. Finally, the coffer has a simple lock upon it, which Zanas quickly pops open. Within are a great many gold and platinum coins, and a handfull of gemstones. |

Gron'rindul looks upon the various items. "The statue and tapestries are no doubt from the ancient city, long before the illithid came here. I would say to leave them in peace, but since this place is so easily compromised, we should take them with us back to the temple to see what historical significance they may have. Carefully with those tapestries, though; they are probably older than any of us."
"We should make quick work of this and continue our search." |

"I agree, Gron'rindul." Khasar says as he stares at the tapestries. "Whe i unrolled them my first thought was that we might repay the preist's kindness by bringing these ancient bits of their past to them. Does someone else want to carry these? I fear to put them in the same pack as the flesh sack."
As the party gathers there hard earned items Khasar speaks up again. "I do not know if it was a blessing or a curse that we got broke up, but I think we should stick together as we expoler the rest of the ruins." |

Gron'rindul nods. "I will carry them." Taking up the rolled-up tapestries, Gron'rindul walks out the doorway, and to the entrance of the hallway leading west.

Valarion does one final scanning of the room, then lefts the dome and inspects all the narrow passages they have not yet explore.

The southernmost tunnels simply meet up with one another, and conclude in a secret passage earlier missed, leading back out to the outer tunnels and chambers.
The northern passages both seem to turn towards one-another. A brief search of the other odd chamber...supposedly, the quarters of the other Illithid, reveals nothing of use or value. It appears to have been thoroughly emptied of anything of potential use. |

Gron'rindul continues down the northern passage, to see where the two meet.

Khasar follows Gron'rindul. Bow ready and arrow nocked.

The two corridors do, indeed, meet..and a passage continues both northwards and southwards from the intersection.

Zanas hastily stuffs the gold and such, checking what she had beforehand. She then folds the hides in the pouch, and then drys the pen and screws the cap (which is hopefully nearby) on the vial, putting it in her pouch. She then gathers whatever small, loose things are left, nocks a crossbow bolt, and follows the rest of the group, looking back often.

Valarion peaks at both sides of the tunnel, and mentally inquires Cefrey whether or not anything of significance happened since they decended. If nothing would prove to be important that Cefrey stays guard, Valarion will call him down, guiding him mentally to the best of his recollection of the passages in this place.

Gron'rindul will proceed south from the intersection.

Rounding the corner of the four-way intersection, a chamber to the south comes into view. Huddled in the back are close to a dozen Grimlocks...four of them female, the rest youths of varying ages.
They appear to be armed only with crude knives, and seem to be fearful of you. To the north, a passage continues onwards beyond the extent of your vision. |

His heart pounding, Khasar draws back the arrow he has nocked before he realises he faces only women and children. As realization dawns on him he lowers his bow and eases off the draw.
"Let us leave them in peace." He says to his companions. "There is no honor in murdering children and their mothers." |

"I see no reason to waste time and effort on them," Valarion shrugs, "Just keep an eye on them so they don't jump us when we turn our backs at them. Then again, killing them might mean less of these filthy creatures in the future."

Gron'rindul considers for a moment. "Their masters have left them. Without their bidding to do, who knows what future awaits these? I agree we should leave them be, but be wary of an assault from behind."
Gron'rindul proceeds down the northern passage. |

Zanas hides her crossbow from obvious sight, looks at the Grimlocks, smiles, then follows the others, looking back very often at the Grimlocks.
OOC: Note - Zanas is just holding it, in her left hand, under her cloak. I assume that I can reasonably leave it loaded, but not easily visible. |

The Grimlocks do, indeed, seem content to let you pass onward unchallenged. The northern tunnel continues for some distance, at least a hundred feet, then comes to various side tunnels, all collapsed. It would appear the main tunnel will continue for quite some distance yet, and the stonework seems to be somewhat different...as if you're entering a new area.

Gron'rindul stops and examines the walls of this new area, trying to determine if this is still of Dwarven manufacture.
"The portal has got to be in the vicinity, yet this tunnel goes on for some ways. Could we have missed yet another hidden passage?" |
