Gasping slightly to see Khasar waiving about and chanting, Valarion stares blankly at Khasar while he reads the scroll, and turns to Serin. "Well... he... uhh, anyways, although he might be able to use the scroll properly, apparently, do you think it's possible that you could land us aid against this creature anyway? As you can surely understand, Gron'rindul was with us, and since he has fallen, we might have an even tougher challenge ahead of us."

As Khasar gazes at the scroll, sudden understanding of the words placed there come to him...an unfamiliar sensation.
The words upon the scroll are those of a remove disease spell, and a feeling of considerable power washes over Khasar, as if this is a potent magic indeed. Seren gazes uncomfortably at Valarion. "If you...require...my aid then I shall accompany you." He says nothing further. |

Looking slightly embaressed Khasar turns to his companions and Serin. "I, uhhh, well, my ordeal under the city has led to greater nderstanding of my role Tempus's plans. I am a warrior through and through but I am finding I must share my life with Tempus now. It came to me in a dream last night. Do not ask me how I use my powers I just do what feels right. I am sorry I have not talked to you about this before, but it was a rather personal juorney and one that had to be made alone."
Turning his attention completely to Serin Khasar tells him: "I am sorry, but I fear this spell is beyond me, even with Tempus's blessing. I am glad to have another dwarf by my side, especially since the last was such a worth companion, but I am sorry you must go if that is not your will." |

With a sigh, Serin returns the scroll to his side pouch. "Are you ready, then? If we're to go, I am ready to depart."

Valarion nods, "We are ready... I believe." Turns back to see whether Qayan and Zanas are ready, Valarion signals them, as though asking whether they are ready to go.

Qayan stirs slowly
and then gets up swiftly. Placing his fists in the small of his back, the tiefling twists, cracks his spine audibly, and then cinches up his mail.
Aye. Gron is awaiting our return. Let us not keep him waiting |

"Tactics?" Khasar asks. "Or are we going to try our luck at charging straight in again?" Looking at Serin he states "I do not feel like leaving another dwarf down there."

Re: Morning Words | ||

Turning to Khasar: Yes. Of course tactics. Rest assured, I have a plan or two
or three. But they could be facilitated considerably if we visit the Thayan compound for some supplies. We have procured some coin, have we not? I propose we use it now and stock up. Wealth is of no value to the dead.
To Zanas: Speaking of our gains, do we know all of the properties of the items we acquired in our recent foray? Specifically, those ropes that bound Valarion so swiftly interest me. Yes Additionally, what information have we gathered regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the portal guardian? What resources can you muster to address this, mlady? Finally, with a wry grin, Qayan addresses the group as a whole. Our foes days are numbered, my friends. He has struck a blow against our number that will soon be returned in kind. The beast erred with our escape. This will prove to be his undoing The tieflings eyes flare to punctuate his point. |

"Well, I've looked at them several times. I can't tell you anything more than what is obvious. The rope is woven with skin, enchanted, somehow, so that it can be commanded. The pen and the red liquid seem to be the Illithid's way of writing, the liquid causing blisters on contact with skin. Very painful blister, actually. "
Zanas sighs looking at a corner of the room that is rather shadow filled. "As for this creature, I know little more than what we have found out. I do know that, at least in the stories, the creature was very, very cunning. The hero always found a clever way, but none of the ways would work now." |

"My resources are somewhat limited, but from the look of our previous encounter with this beast, the battle shall be over very quickly, victory or not." Valarion shrugs, "I have means of cloaking some of you with Illusionary magic, but they will wear off after the initial strike. We can still get somewhat of a surprise factor, albeit it won't last. If the creature has other means of sensory input, then I am afraid our options are even more limited."
Picking up the bow and getting ready to leave, Valarion adds, "Would you prefer my assistance to be on the direct or indirect method? On the ond hand, my lesser spells can do sure damage to the creature, but they are really not as powerful as I abandoned the study of these magic already; on the other hand, my other more advanced spells do not function as often as I'd like on creatures with a strong will power and determination, such as the foe that guards the portal." |

Qayan smiles unnervingly to Zanas. I see
Well then, perhaps we should spend some of our coin on identifying our gains professionally? I believe I know of a suitable diviner in the Thayan Enclave *hold out hand to take the ropes*, but Id also like to glean some useful lore regarding our adversary. I am certain you have some contacts here within the city
other denizens of your homeland, perhaps? *nods in acceptance* Indeed
We must move swiftly. I would charge you with this task, mlady, as you are likely the only one of our band capable enough in this matter. Find out all you can as to the strengths and weakness of the guardian down below. You and Khasar may wish to venture together, but that is your prerogative. Spend whatever coin you need. You have until sunset, whereupon we will again meet here. Qayan bows his head in respect.
To Valarion: I will venture to the Enclave with you, if you dont mind. I feel we may need much from them in the way of magical wares. In addition, I would have your input on the following strategy |

Valarion nods, "Very well, let's make our preparations. We are really coming short in our funds even with our recent acquisition." Turning to Serin, "Sir Serin, might it be possible, and pardon me for being direct, that we ask for an advance of part of our... compensation that you spoke of?"
After receiving an answer, Valarion will accompany Qayan to the Enclave, discuss strategy along the way. Once there, he will ask for Salvistin Wilton while Qayan proceed with the business at hand. |

Serin presses a pair of potion vials into the hands of each of you. "This stands as both aid and payment, for what you have done and what we hope to do. I will remain here, and await you until you have settled your remaining affairs."

Khasar looks at the vials. "Our thanks to you and your kin. We will be back to join our forces before we depart for the ruins." Turning to Zanas he askes, do you need my help, or should I go to the Thayan compound?"

Zanas shakes her head, and slips away swiftly, plying her sources once again. For lack of a better plan, Khasar then joins the others on their way to the Thayan Enclave.
Again, the light of day hits you...and again, it seems oddly bright from the time you've spend under the ground. The city seems busy once more...abuzz with activity, blissfully ignorant of the terrors that lurk below. End of Thread |
