Chapter Two, The Greater Plan (Iptz) |
Lead | |
|
Your elite team of Orcs, after a few days of travel, stations around the trade route between Loudwater and LLorkh, a normally popular merchant route. For a whole day, you curse your misfourtunate as you cannot seem to acquire even a single worthy target of robbery. Your Orcs seem to express impatience and grumpiness during the boredom of the day, one of them even slayed a random lone adventurer, and gained a suit of dirty cloth, an old and used bedroll, as well as some jerky and some loose coins for his trouble.

Melharn walks around, cursing both on Undercommon and Orcish.
When he let out his rage he commands orc warriors to build a camp for night. The thieves he sends to explore the area around. |

As your Orcs build a crude camp for the night, two of your scouts rush to you to deliver a somewhat interesting piece of news. "Just northwest of here, we suddenly see some big black hole pop up, and many black, glue-y people come out of there! They look like they are all hurt bad."

"Glue-y people, What? And how many exactly? Dozens or hundreds" Melharn questions the scouts, while commanding the others to prepare.

"About twenty... no, maybe less. Their shapes are wierd, can't tell how many clearly." The scouts replied.

"Ten orcs, follow me, ten more guard the camp, thieves move at sides and report anything unusual, the rest of the fighters take range weapons and follow. Karsk stay near the archers."
Melharn walks to the pointed direction, checking the are in front |

As your men march forward, you notice an odd sight: darkness engluves the road in front, making it seems like a dome of black cloud. Turning over the twist in the road, you can see clearly that there are indeed more than a dozen, perhaps more, black murky humanoid inside the dark cloud. All of them are sitting down or lying down, except for one in the middle that is waving about with his hands.

Very strange, this is the first time i see such sight Melharn thinks to himself, He do not wish to charge in battle with the unknown. He commands the orc to stay low, and keep watching the man, specially the one the waving his hands.

As the man in the middle waves his hands about, the darkness seems to turn into some form between gas and liquid; it flows and swirls around the area, and sometimes strands of it will fuse into some of the other men, and this act apparently heals - or repairs, as Karsk voices his opinion - them.

Unnatural creatures, maybe that is a destiny set to me. I had thoughts but now it might be possible. Melharn silently commands his orcs to attack at any sign of danger. And himself stands up, razes his Axe and loudly speaks
"Dark humanoids! Identify yourself, what are you doing on this land?!" |

Some of them turn their attention to you, but most of them simply ignore you because they don't care about you, or maybe they are wounded too heavily to even turn their eyeballs of blackness. You can see no one addressing you, yet you hear a voice that's no more pleasant than the gritting of metals against each other: "We have no business with you, Orc. Take your filthy horde elsewhere for their food."

Re: Chapter Two, The Greater Plan (Iptz)

"Food?!" Says Melharn with mocking laughter "You are talking to a leader of the orcs. Not just a pathetic horde. You will both show respect and answer my questions. Now once again, what is your nature and what are you doing on that land?!"

"A leader? Yes, I see that you are bigger and uglier. No, I will neither show you any respect, or respond to anymore of your talks." The voice contiunes, monotonically, then falls silent.

Melharn calls Karsk and silently asks "What do you know about those creatures?"

Re: Chapter Two, The Greater Plan (Iptz)

"They appear to be Shades." Karsk frowns as he tries to recall information from his mind. "Some sort of creature that trade their body and soul for darkness from the Plane of Shadow. They live somewhere in that desert to the north, in a big, floating city. They are powerful in darkness, and... that's about all I know."

"Shades, how interesting" says Melharn to himself, then he stands up again and loudly says "Shades, You are the one that attacked the Cormyr's Stormhorn, Myth Drannor and the Elven Lord. Seems to me that although me might not share the same goal we do share the same enemies. It might be a good idea to talk." Melharn is not the best diplomat, he had very little experience in this area. However this seems to be a very good opportunity.

Re: Chapter Two, The Greater Plan (Iptz)

You cannot determine whether you are truly practicing your diplomatic skills, since your words receive no response at all. The black cloud grows darker and thicker, soon you can't even see the inside of the area anymore. You have the feeling that the darkness is growing larger and larger, but it's just your eyes playing trick on you as it's perfectly contained in its original position.

Melharn makes his last attempt "The rumors says that you are losing, that suffered heavy casualties on the battle field. Your condition now is not contradiction to any of the words heard. We both can help each other to achieve our goals!" He stops and listens.

"Why do you persist, Orc?" The voice can be heard again after the prolonged silence. "Like most people in Faerun, I am pretty sure we both understand, this is not a matter for allies. Everyone seeks to acquire them and use them alone, there are no benefits to all but one single entity in the acquisition of them. What's in it for you, that you wish to help us? "

"I am not seeking for the artifacts. I have no interest in them, since I know that no one will be able to break the Alliance that defend them. Moreover there are forces that stay low, ready to strike, when the moment is right. Everyone work alone, this way the Alliance will be able to stop every attempt to obtain the artifacts. I can offer you a help since I am only interested in land. Land for me and my orcs. I can offer to attack any reinforcement that Silvermoon might send and prevent in from reaching the front lines. That way making it easier for you. You on the other hand you will stop any help that might be sent to Silvermoon when I will be ready to strike. Weather it will be tomorrow or in a year."

"You propose a very interesting trade, Orc." The voice replies, as the fog of darkness slowly fades. You see most of the Shades inside are standing up, their wounds seems to be gone. The one that was in the middle waiving the darkness walks forward to you, but stops about 60 or 70 away.
"I cannot give you a reply at this moment, as I do not command all the Shades, however if you speak the truth, then there are much we can work with together to break the Alliance. My fellows are going to travel through the Plane of Shadows to meet with our main force, and there you can propose your plan to our commander. Would you like to come along? Due to the capacity of our mages, we cannot take anymore than perhaps three or four of your men, so if you feel uneasy, alternatively you can give me one object of personal nature to me, and once I return to our commander, we can contact you magically. Such as a strand of your hair." |
